TOOL RATINGS
This system was developed several years ago by Vernon Ward and The Fine Tool Journal.  With some additional comments, this is the system we use to rate tools.
(N) New, Totally usable with all parts, 100% original finish, No wear, No repairs, Has original packaging if noted with + sign, No Rust, "Mint" condition.
(F) Fine, Totally usable with all parts, 90 - 100% of original finish, Minimal wear, No repairs, No Rust
(G+) Good+, Usable with all original parts, 75 - 90% of original finish, Normal  wear, Very minor or no repairs, Light rust
(G) Good, Usable with all parts, 50 - 75% original finish, Normal to moderate wear, Minor or no repairs, Light rust, Some nicks and scratches OK
(G-) Good-, Probably usable, 30 - 50% original finish, Moderate to heavy wear, Minor correct repairs, Moderate rust, Nicks, scratches and small chips OK

RESTORED
When our items are listed as restored it may mean several things.  Rust removal is done using organic materials and hand cleaning, Metal items are soaked in a variety of penetrating and cutting oils, then dressed using light machine oil. Our intent is to restore it to as close as possible of original condition.  
Restoration of parts consists mainly of chip, scratch and crack repair, and rust or foreign matter removal. Refinishing MAY be done if 80 - 90% of original finish is missing.
In all instances of restoration, we are very cautious not to remove the original finishes.  If an item has received refinishing, it is noted. Repairs, rebuilt, and replacements of parts are noted.
CLEANED
The Item has been cleaned of excessive dirt, oil and rust.  No repair or restoration has been attempted.
