 FIRST GENERATION
 1. WILLIAM(1) READE, b. 1605, Maidstone, co. Kent, England, d. 1663, Weymouth @ age 58; m. 13 Jul 1635, England, AVIS DEACON, b. c.1616, England. He sailed c.24 Jul 1635, from Gravesend, co. Kent, England aboard the "Assurance". He landed at Boston and proceeded to Weymouth where he settled. Avis sailed on 13 Jul 1635, from Gravesend, on the ship "Alice". William was among the eraly settlers of Weymouth, it being a plantation, on 2 Sep 1635. He was made a freeman on 2 Sep 1635; was a representive to the General Court on 7 Dec 1636, and 6 Sep 1638. On 9 Mar 1636/37 he purchased the house and farm of Zachery Bicknell. he was chosen townsman on 26 Nov 1651 and that is the last mention of him to be found.[1]

WILLIAM(2) REED ( 1.William(1) ) b. 15 Dec 1639, Weymouth, Norfolk Co., d. c. 26 Oct 1705, Weymouth @ age 66; m. 1675, Middleborough, Plymouth Co., ESTHER(2) TOMSON, dau. of JOHN & MARY (COOKE) TOMSON, b. 28 Jul 1652, Barnstable, Barnstable Co., d. 26 Oct 1705, Weymouth @ age 53. Evidence for the marriage of Esther & William is found in the Will of her father, JOHN TOMSON, dated 1696, which names his daughter, Esther Read, the 1696 agreement among her father's heirs. The settlement of the estate of her sister, Mercy Tomson (dated 1756) mentions children (unnamed) of sister, Esther Reed, deceased. The Will of William Reed of Weymouth, dated 26 Oct 1705, proved 12 Sep 1706, names wife, Hester Read; sons, William (eldest), John & Jacob Reed; daughters, Bashua Porter, Mercy Whitman, Mary & Hester Reed.[5]

Nov 1661, d. 18 Aug 1725, Bridgewater @ age 64. In 1675 while residing in Weymouth, he served in Capt. Johnson's Company in the King Philip's War against the Indians. Later, on 8 Apr 1682, while residing in Taunton, he was a member of a military company.[10]
