3. JOSEPH(3) TOWER ( 2.John(2), 1.John(1) ) b. 27 Feb 1685/86, Braintree, Norfolk Co., d. aft. 29 Aug 1761 @ age abt. 76; m. Braintree, RUTH THAYER, b. Braintree, d. there 28 Mar 1752. In the Braintree records of marriage intentions are the following: "Joseph Tower & Elizabeth Arnold, 27 Mar 1756 & Joseph Tower & wid. Hannah Jones, Sep 1759." No record of his death or of these or later wives appears in the Braintree records. There appears to be neither a Will nor administration upon his estate. He probably lived in that part of Braintree which is now included in the town of Randolph.[5]

FOURTH GENERATION
4. JOHN(4) TOWER ( 3.Joseph(3), 2.John(2), 1.John(1) ) b. 7 Feb 1717/18, braintree, Norfolk Co., d. 1759 @ age 42 from wounds; m. (1) 23 Jun 1741, Braintree, Rachel Hayden, b. 22 Dec 1724, Braintree, d. 18 Jul 1750, Braintree; m. (2) Braintree, REBECCA STAPLES (French), b. Braintree. John was a soldier in the old French War, a corporal in Capt. Peter Thayer's Company, which marched for relief of Fort William Henry. In 1758 he served in Capt. Ward's Company, Col. William's Regiment, six months & 23 days & received for pay 12 pounds, 5 shillings, 7 pence. He was at Frontenac. In 1759 he was in Capt. Jonathan Gray's Company, serving for the period of 7 weeks & 4 days. Mrs. Mehitable Orcutt, his grandmother, says "he was wounded in the knee at the fort and did not return." Administration was granted on his estate, 7 Aug 1759, to his widow, Rebecca.[9]

JOHN(5) TOWER ( 4.John(4), 3.Joseph(3), 2.John(2), 1.John(1) ) b. 1752, Braintree, Norfolk Co., d. 22 Feb 1823, Braintree @ age 71; m. 23 Feb 1776, Braintree, MEHITABLE, dau. of MICAH & MEHITABLE (FRENCH) THAYER, b. 1750, d. 16 Aug 1825 @ age 75. He served as a soldier in the War of The revolution; is credited for 9 days service in Capt. Silas Wild's Company of Braintree; called out by the Lexington Alarm, 19 Apr 1775; served afterwards in Capt. Penniman's Company in 1776 & 1777.[8]

Both are bur. in Union Cemetery Rt. #139, Holbrook, Norfolk Co. A direct lineage has been traced from Mary Tower back through the Pratt, Porter & Reed family genealogies to FRANCIS COOKE of "The Mayflower" & Plymouth Colony[11]
