This crocheted sampler square is made up of dc stitches with the initials AOC crocheted into the pattern. This square is specially designed for the comfort afghans (comfortghans) created by the loving and caring folks at the
Heartmade Blessings website (formerly Angels Of Comfort). Heartmade Blessings' website is located at: http://www.heartmadeblessings.org

Materials:
worsted weight yarn in two colors
Crochet hook, size F / 5 / 3 ¾

Stitches (American version):
Chain (ch)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Stitch (st)
Beginning (beg)

Size: 7 " (inches)

Special Notes: To change colors, work last stitch of one color up until the last pull-thru, pick up next color and do last pull-thru with new color. Work over unused color to carry it along in your work, so it will be available for color changing.

Graph Notes: If using graph, each square equals 1 dc stitch. Odd-numbered rows are read from right to left and even-numbered rows are read from left to right (I am right-handed and this is the way the chart is read).

Chain 27.
Row 1: (With blue) 1 Dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped chs count as 1 dc), 1 dc in each ch across; ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc on next row now and throughout). (25 dc).

Row 6: 1 Dc in each of next 10 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 6 dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 7: 1 Dc in each of next 2 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; ch 3, turn.

Row 9: 1 Dc in each of next 9 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 10: 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, (yellow) dc in next dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 17 dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 11: 1 Dc in each of next 16 dc, (yellow) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, (blue) 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 12: 1 Dc in each dc across; ch 2, turn.
Row 13: 1 Hdc in each dc across (note: you may use dc's or sc's on this row instead, but on the square I made, working hdc's on this row made the square's dimensions come out even on height and width).

EDGING:
Rnd 1: Working around perimeter, sc across top and bottom of square; 2 sc in sides of each dc row and 1 sc in side of hdc row (Row 13) and working 2 or 3 sc in each corner (to prevent curling).
