This filet crochet design is designed for the CrochetCraft Coaster exchange for the CrochetCraft mailing list found at: http://members.aol.com/user190462/crochetcrafts.html.
Materials: size 10 (bedspread weight) cotton thread
Crochet hook, size 8/1.50MM
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Beginning (beg)
Stitch (st)
Space (sp): Ch 2, skip 2 dc or 2 ch, dc in next dc or ch OR ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc.
Block (bl): 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc or ch OR 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc.
Gauge: 8 dc = 1 inch
Finished Size: 5 ¾ " x 5 ¾ "
Stitch Notes:
Work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.
Ch 54.
Row 1: 1 Dc in 4th ch from hook (3 skipped chs count as 1st dc) and in each ch across; ch 3, turn (counts as dc on next row now and throughout).
Row 2: 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc=1 bl, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc=1 sp) 15 times, 1 dc in each of last 3 dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 3: 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc=1 sp, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc=1 bl, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc) 7 times, (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of last 3 dc; ch 3, turn.
Rows 4 - 17 : Continue acording to chart. At the end of Row 17, turn and work edging along sides of rows.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in side of next row (Row 17), ch 3, (sc in next row, ch 3) to next corner, sc in bottom of 1st dc along foundation ch, ch 3, (skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3) to next corner. Work remaining 2 sides to correspond. Join with sl st in beg sc.
Fasten off and sew in ends well with a large-eyed sewing needle. Lightly press with a steam iron and aerosol spray starch if desired. :)
