This Tapestry-style crochet coaster is designed for the Crochet List Coaster exchange for the CrochetList mailing list found at http://crochet.rpmdp.com
Materials:
Lustersheen Crochet & Knitting yarn, (any two colors)
Crochet hook, size 1/2.75MM
Stitch Notes:
Work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Yarn Over (YO)
Beginning (beg)
Gauge: 7 sc = 1 inch
Notes: When reading rows on chart, each square equals to 2 sc or hdc stitches (depending on whether you want to make the coaster with hdc's or sc's). However, you only do each row once. Always work over unused strand to carry it along in work.
Additional Notes: To change colors, work a sc in the old color, then, YO and pull the new color through the last two loops to complete that single crochet. **Instructions below are typed for single crochet method--substitute hdc's instead of sc's if you wish to make the larger hdc version and ch 2 to turn each row instead of ch 1).
Ch 33.
Row 1: (with 1st color) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 1, turn (now and throughout).
Row 2: (1st color) 1 Sc in each of next 2 sc, (2nd color) (1 sc in each of next 2 sc) 14 times, (1st color) 1 sc in each of last 2 sc; ch 1, turn.
Rows 3--20: Continue pattern according to chart making necessary color changes where appropriate according to chart.
Fasten off and sew in ends and lightly press with cool iron. :)
