Materials:
*Bedspread Weight cotton thread (size 10) or smaller if you prefer-any color
*Optional for edging: small amount of size 10 thread (white) or whichever color you like
*Steel Crochet Hook: Size 8 (or the size you prefer when using size 10 thread. If using size 20 or 30 thread, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly.)

Note: This is a basic filet pattern. Spaces = ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st; Blocks = 3 dc in next 3 sts. Odd numbered rows are worked from right to left and even numbered rows are worked from left to right.

I like to do filet project starting at the bottom of a chart and working my way up to the top. Good luck! :)

The pic is here. On one side, I did Version 1's of the edging on Rnd 2 and on the other side, I did Version 2's edging. Edging is optional and there are 2 different edgings featured on this pattern on Rnd 2 of the edging. :)

Chain 42.
Row 1:Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across=13 blocks. Ch 11, turn. (this enables you to do 3 block increases at the beginning or Row 2).
Rows 2-27:Continue working according to chart towards top, making the necessary increases and decreases on beginnings and ends of rows.

Edging:
Rnd 1:Attach white thread with sc in 2nd to last dc of Row 27, (ch 5, skip 2 dc on Row 26, sc in next dc) 3 times, (ch 5, skip 2 dc on Row 25, sc in next dc) twice, (ch 5, sc in top of end dc of next row) 5 times, ch 5, skip next row (Row 19), sc in top of end dc of next row (Row 18), (ch 5, skip 1 row, sc in top of end dc of next row) 3 times, ch 5, skip next row, sc in bottom of end dc on next row, ch 5, skip 1 row, sc in bottom of end dc of next row, (ch 5, sc in bottom of end dc on next row) 5 times, skip 2 dc, sc in bottom of next dc, ch 5, sc in bottom of end dc of next row, (ch 5, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc) twice, ch 5, skipping 1st dc (along foundation ch), sc in next dc (you are now working along foundation ch or Row 1; (ch 5, skip 5 chs, sc in next ch) 6 times. Work remaining 2 sides to correspond and join with sl st in beg sc.

Two versions....your choice on Rnd 2
Rnd 2-- (Version 1):In each ch-5 sp around, work (sc, ch 2, hdc in top of sc just made=picot, sc, picot, sc). Join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off and sew in ends.
Rnd 2-- (Version 2):In each ch-5 sp around, work 5 sc and join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off and sew in ends.

Version 1 edging on left....Version 2 edging on right

Lightly press using a little aerosol spray starch or block as desired. This can be used on a table or framed. :)
