Starting a 1 narrow end, ch 20 (to measure about 1 1/2 inches).
1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) 4 times. Ch 2, dc in same place as last dc was made. Ch 3, turn.
2nd row: 5 dc in sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice; 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
3rd row: Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in same place as last dc. Ch 3, turn.
4th row: 5 dc in sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
5th row: (Dc in next dc, ch 2) twice; skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice; ch 2, dc in same place as last dc. Ch 3, turn.
The 2nd to 5th rows incl. constitute the pattern. Repeat these 4 rows for length desired. Fasten off.
