This can be used as a small filet doily for a piece of furniture or it can be framed, given as a gift to fellow rookery sisters and brothers, ectetera. :)
I made up a sample using the tapestry crochet method and I scanned it (picture below). Click here for more comprehensive directions on tapestry crochet.
**Materials (Filet method): Bedspread Weight cotton thread (size 10) or smaller if you prefer.
Steel Crochet Hook size 8 or 9 (or the size you prefer). If using size 20 or 30 thread, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly)
**Materials (Tapestry method): Lustersheen yarn (2 colors of your choice
Steel Crochet Hook size 0 (zero)/3.20MM
Note: Filet directions: Spaces = ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st; Blocks = 1 dc in each of next 3 sts.
Tapestry directions: Each block counts as 1 sc. To change colors, working last sc of 1st color, YO (yarn over) with new color and do last pull thru of same sc with new color.
Other Notes: Odd numbered rows are worked from right to left and even numbered rows are worked from left to right. Row 1 begins on bottom of chart.
**Filet**: Chain 92. Dc in 8th ch from hook. Continue with pattern following chart.
**Tapestry**: Chain 30. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and continue according to chart making the necessary color changes where indicated in chart.
Edging:
Sc around the entire perimeter making 3 sc in spaces and ends of rows, 1 sc in tops and bottoms of dc (top and bottom edges of piece where there are blocks) and 6 or 7 scs in corners. Fasten off and sew in ends. Lightly press or block if needed. :)
Glide home safely rookery sisters and brothers! :)
