Materials:
Small amount of mauve-colored crochet cotton thread, size 10
Small amount of cream-colored crochet thread, size 10 for edging (optional)
Crochet hook, size 9
Gauge: approximately 10 dc = 1 inch
Note: This is a basic filet pattern made with smaller meshes.
Spaces = ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st;
Blocks = 2 dc in next 2 sts.
To begin rows with a block, ch 3 (this counts as 1 dc).
To begin rows with a space, ch 4 (this counts as 1 dc + ch 1)
Starting from bottom of chart, ch 21.
Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook and in next 3 chs (2 blocks). Do 5 spaces and 2 blocks in remaining chs across. Ch 3, turn and continue working project according to chart.
At the end of last row, fasten off if you wish to start working with cream thread for edging.
Edging:
Row 1:
Attach white in last dc worked on last row and working along side of bookmark (short)
side), ch 1, sc in same place where white was attached, ch 3, * sc in side of dc of next row,
ch 3, repeat from * to next corner and sc in 1st st (this is the
foundation ch); ch 3, **skip 1 st, sc in next sc, ch 3, repeat from ** to next corner. Work
remaining 2 sides to correspond and join with sl st to beg sc.
Row2:
Sl st into 1st ch-3 sp, sc in same sp, ch 2, * sc in next sp, ch 2, repeat from * all the way
around perimeter of bookmark and join with sl st to beg sc.
Fasten off and press or block as usual.
