Old ships are one of my passions!  Here's a Chinese Junk ship I designed for filet crochet--great gift for any ship enthusiasts!

Materials: Bedspread Weight cotton thread (size 10) or smaller if you prefer
Steel Crochet Hook size 8 or 9 (or the size you prefer when using size 10 thread. If using size 20 or 30 thread, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly.

Note: This is a basic filet pattern. Spaces = ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st
Blocks = 3 dc in each of next 3 sts

Ch 154. Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook (the 3 skipped chains will serve as first dc of this row), dc in each chain across. Turn.

Rows 2 - 8: Follow chart

EDGING
Working around entire perimeter, do: 3 sc in ends of rows, 4 sc in corners, 3 sc in each sp, 1 sc in each dc of bottom of bookmark and 1 sc in each dc on top of bookmark. Join. Fasten off and press lightly with iron and a little spray starch.
