Materials: Bedspread Weight cotton thread (size 10) or smaller if you prefer
Steel Crochet Hook size 8 or 9 (or the size you prefer when using size 10 thread. If using size 20 or 30 thread, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly.

Ch 27.

Row 1:Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 chs, * ch 3, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 chs, dc in next ch *, repeat from * twice more, 1 dc in last 3 chs. Ch 3, turn (ch-3 counts as 1 dc).
Row 2:1 dc in next 3 dcs, * ch 5, dc in next dc, repeat from * twice more, dc in last 3 dcs. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4 - 24:Repeat rows 1 and 2. At end of row 24 do not fasten off.

EDGING
Working around entire perimeter, do: 3 sc in ends or rows, 4 sc in corners, 3 sc in each sp, 1 sc in each dc of bottom of bookmark, 5 sc in ch-5 spaces and 1 sc in each dc on top of bookmark. Join. Fasten off and press lightly with iron and a little spray starch.
