Materials:White crochet thread size 10 (bedspread weight cotton); a little variegated crochet thread; Crochet hook size 5 (or any size you are comfortable with using size 10 thread)
Note:This also works up beautifully with DMC Perle cotton and I like to use a size 2 or 3 hook when using perle cotton.
Starting at base with white, ch 5. Join to form a ring.
Round 1:Ch 4, 4 tr in ring. Join to top of ch-4.
Round 2:Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, 2 tr in each tr around. Join.
Round 3:Ch 4, tr in each tr around. Join.
Round 4:Ch 4, * 2 tr in next tr, tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join. Ch 4, turn.
Round 5:2 tr in same place as sl st, 3 tr in each tr around. Join.
Round 6:Ch 5, tr in same place as sl st, ch 1, * in next tr make (tr, ch 1) twice. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-5. Fasten off.
Outer edge:Attach colored thread to same sp as last sc on Inner edge of flower, * (ch 2, sc in next sp) 44 times; ch 2, sc in same sp as first sc on Inner Edge of same flower. Fasten off.
Stamen:With colored thread, ch 30. Fasten off. Fold into 2 loops and sew to center of flower.
