John Alfred Coleman, Sr. married Seleta Abigail Hampton on October 30, 1861, in Port Royal, Carroll County, Kentucky. John Coleman died February 22, 1911, and Seleta Coleman died January 5, 1916. They were the parents of the following:

Thomas Coleman, born September 6, 1862, died April 29, 1941,
married W.S. Williams in December, 1882.
2 . Nancy W.
Coleman, known as Nannie, born October 9, 1863, died October,
1930, married W.C. Minish and W. Webster.
3. Steven
A. Coleman, born January 30, 1865, died December 30, 1932, married
Becky Foster and Emma Porter.

Alfred Coleman, Jr. (see below)
5. Susan
Katherine Coleman, born April 6, 1968, died November 10, 1906,
married Lawson Williams.
6. Mary
E. Coleman, known as Mollie, born December 22, 1872, died October 19,
1948, married L. Jones in 1892.
7. William
O’Butler Coleman, born November 16, 1874, died June 14, 1947,
married Annie Coghill.
8. Olivia
Ann Coleman, born October 16, 1876, died September 6, 1964, married
Joseph William Jewell.
9. Minnie
Coleman, born May 11, 1879, died October 14, 1958, married
Charles H. Dunn in 1897.
10. Peter Coleman,
born June 17, 1881, died January 10, 1933, married Ida
Dunn.
11. Walter Coleman,
born January 1, 1883, died March 26, 1939, married Mary
Byers in 1907.
12. Lillian G. Coleman,
born July 5, 1886, died March 17, 1973, married Harry D.
Grimes in June, 1910.
John Coleman, Jr., born
June 4, 1866, died January 20, 1941, married
Arrintha E. Strawther
in Robertson County, Kentucky, in 1888. She died prior to 1900,
I have not been able to find her death date, it is believed she is buried
in Robertson County, Kentucky, in the Old Wilson Graveyard at Five Lick.
They
had the following
children:

1910.

twin boys, who died at birth or shortly thereafter
John Alfred Coleman’s
second wife was Elizabeth Dotson. They had the
following children:
1. Leona
Coleman, born 1901, died young
2. Daniel
Boone Coleman, died May 30, 1962, married Isabelle Mastin.
3. Lucille
Lee Coleman, born March, 1911, died September, 1995, married
Charles Sharon and Lee Hunt.
Mary Abigail Coleman
married Millard Alvin Wheeler, on December 23, 1907. He was born
July 31, 1885, and was the son of Charles Alvin and Malinda Elizabeth Moore
Wheeler. Mary Wheeler lived from January 30, 1891 until July 17,
1917. Millard Wheeler died August 3, 1928. They are both buried
in the Shannon Cemetery in Mason County, Kentucky.
