First Generation

1. George Eli1 Benefiel, son of Andrew Lee Benefiel, was born in York Co., PA December 25, 1759. George died April 1, 1832 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 72 years of age.

He married Mary Buchanan in York Co., PA, 1787. Mary was born in Ireland March 15, 1764. Mary was the daughter of George Buchanan and Esther Campbell. Mary died May 2, 1857 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 93 years of age. Her body was interred. George Benefiel appears in the 1795 tax list for Scott Co., KY. This may be when he first came to Kentucky although that is uncertain. He appears in the tax list for Montgomery County, Kentucky in 1801. He moved to Jefferson County, Indiana in 1814. He served as a private in the Cumberland County, Pennsylvania militia in te Revolutionary War, Captain James Patton's Company, Fourth Battalion.

He married three times. He married Nancy Stewart in Clark, Kentucky, Usa. Nancy was born April 12, 1793. Nancy died July 18, 1830 at 37 years of age. He married Amy Ryker in Jefferson Co., IN, May 12, 1831. Amy was born in Shelby Co., KY ca 1808. Amy was the daughter of Samuel Ryker and Barbara Fullenwider. Amy died July 13, 1845 in Jefferson Co., IN, at 37 years of age. He married Elizabeth Moore in Ripley Co., IN, December 29, 1845. Elizabeth was born in Kentucky February 28, 1798. Elizabeth died November 3, 1852 at 54 years of age.

Marjorie died February 11, 1873 at 71 years of age.

She married Joseph Holton Ryker in Jefferson Co., IN, November 2, 1848. Joseph was born in Jefferson Co., IN October 8, 1826. Joseph was the son of Samuel Ryker, Jr. and Margaret Kincaid Holton. Joseph died July 14, 1880 in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, IN, at 53 years of age. His body was interred in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, IN.

Eliza Stewart McLelland and Joseph Holton Ryker had the following children:

child 126 vi. Margaret Emma Ryker was born in California, MO December 4, 1864. Margaret died May 13, 1948 in Galena, MO, at 83 years of age. Her body was interred in New City Cemetery, California, MO. She married Thomas Meade Macdonnell in Hanover, IN, July 31, 1889.

child 127 vii. Clifton James Ryker was born October 23, 1870. Clifton died in Biloxi, MS. He married Elizabeth Cooter in Hutchinson, KS, May 11, 1902.

122. Cornelia Esther4 Ryker (Eliza Stewart3 McLelland, Esther Campbell2 Benefiel, George Eli1) was born in Jefferson Co., IN December 11, 1852. Cornelia died September 14, 1925 at 72 years of age. Her body was interred in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, IN.

She married James Mayer LaBach June 23, 1870. James was born in Chambersburg, PA June 6, 1845. James was the son of Samuel Harrison Laubach and Anna Catherine Mayer. James died November 1, 1919 in Madison, IN, at 74 years of age. His body was interred in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, IN. James's occupation: Minister. James Mayer LaBach served in the Union Army from Pennsylvania during the Civil War and participated in the battles of Gettysburg, Antietam, South Mountain, Chancellorsville and others. After the Civil War he became a Presbyterian minister and served churches in Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. He was the Pastor of the Crittenden Presbyterian Church in Grant County, Kentucky around the turn of the century. After the Civil War he changed the spelling of his name from Laubach to LaBach for reasons not now known.

Cornelia Esther Ryker and James Mayer LaBach had the following children:

child 130 ii. Paul Mayer LaBach was born in Leavenworth, IN October 3, 1872. Paul died October 24, 1957 in Los Angeles, CA, at 85 years of age. His body was interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC. Paul's occupation: Engineer.

child 131 iii. Anna LaBach was born in Amboy, IL February 18, 1876. Anna died September 27, 1878 in Burlington, KS, at 2 years of age.
