1. Joseph1 Scott, M.D. (Matthew2, John3, Robert4), son of Matthew Scott and Elizabeth Thompson, was born in Shippensburg, PA February 19, 1781. Joseph died June 6, 1843 in Lexington, KY, at 62 years of age. His body was interred in Lexington Cemetery.
He married twice. He married Martha Berkley Finley in Chillicothe, OH, 1805. Martha was born in Big Springs, Cumberland Co., PA 1783. Martha was the daughter of Michael Finley and Sarah Thompson. Martha died 1808 in Chillicothe, OH, at 25 years of age. He married Lucy Webb in Fayette Co., KY, July 31, 1817. Lucy was born 1800. Lucy died March 17, 1868 at 67 years of age.
Joseph's occupation: Physician. Joseph Scott was a physician in Chillicothe, Ohio. He moved to Lexington, Kentucky about 1828. He owned and lived on a 22 acre tract I believe to be contained within the block now bounded by Limestone Street, Maxwell Street, Rose Street, and the Avenue of Champions (formerly Euclid Avenue). At the time he owned this property the legal description said it was bounded by Mulberry Street, a line, Van Pelt Street, and an alley. Mulberry Street is now Limestone Street and Van Pelt is now Rose Street.
Joseph Scott, M.D. and Martha Berkley Finley had the following children:
2 i. Sarah Finley Scott was born November 27, 1806. Sarah died December 4, 1883
in Woodford Co., KY, at 77 years of age. Her body was interred in Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, KY. She married David Carlisle Humphreys October 6, 1825.
David was born in Staunton, VA October 15, 1796. David was the son of Alexander Humphreys,
M.D. and Mary Brown. David died August 19, 1864 in Woodford Co., KY, at 67 years of age.
His body was interred in Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, KY. David's occupation: Merchant.
3 ii. Elizabeth Thompson Scott was born in Chillicothe, OH May 10, 1808.
Elizabeth died March 6, 1876 in Lexington, KY, at 67 years of age. She
married Humphreys Fullerton October 31, 1833.
Joseph Scott, M.D. and Lucy Webb had the following children:
4 iii. Lucy Catherine Scott was born May 2, 1818. She
married James M. Holloway.
5 iv. Mary Epps Scott was born February 18, 1821. Mary died 1885 at 64 years of
age. She married John W. McFarland. John was born 1814. John died
1890 at 76 years of age.
6 v. Margaret Scott was born November 4, 1822. Margaret died August 18, 1823
at less than one year of age.
7 vi. Isaac Webb Scott was born in Chillicothe, OH June 27, 1826. Isaac died
April 11, 1913 in New Orleans, LA, at 86 years of age.
8 vii. James N. Scott was born March 17, 1828.
9 viii. Catherine Scott was born November 2, 1829. Catherine died December 28,
1830 at 1 year of age.
10 ix. Joseph Thompson Scott was born March 20, 1832. Joseph died January 25,
1896 in New Orleans, LA, at 63 years of age.
11 x. Matthew T. Scott was born January 2, 1834. Matthew died July 7, 1862 at
28 years of age.
12 xi. Winnie Maria Scott was born in Lexington, KY March 20, 1836. Winnie died
1910 at 74 years of age. She married James Stillwell. James was born
1830. James died 1872 at 42 years of age.
13 xii. David Humphreys Scott was born December 28, 1838. David died
April 8, 1870 at 31 years of age.
14. Matthew2 Scott (John3, Robert4) was born in Ireland 1739. Matthew died 1798 in PA, at 59 years of age.
He married Elizabeth Thompson at Carlisle, PA, January 11, 1764. Matthew Scott was a Captain in the Thirteenth Pennsylvania Regiment, Continental Line, in the Revolutionary War.
Matthew Scott and Elizabeth Thompson had the following children:

17 iii. Elizabeth Thompson Scott. She married Batteal
Harrison.
18 iv. John Mitchell Scott was born in PA 1765. John died 1812 in Frankfort, KY,
at 47 years of age. His body was interred in Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, KY. He married Catherine Ware. John Mitchell Scott was a medical doctor. He
was also Sheriff of Franklin County, Kentucky and a Colonel in the Kentucky Militia in the
War of 1812.
19 v. Margaret Scott was born in PA 1772. She married
Isaac Cook.
+ 1 vi. Joseph Scott, M.D. was born February 19,
1781.
20 vii. Matthew Thompson Scott was born in Shippensburg, PA 1786. Matthew died
1858 in Lexington, KY, at 72 years of age. His body was interred in Lexington Cemetery,
Lexington, KY. He married Winnifred Webb 1810. Winnifred was born in
VA. Winnifred is the daughter of Isaac Webb. Matthew Thompson Scott was a banker in
Lexington, Kentucky. He was President of the Northern Bank of Kentucky. He and his wife,
Winnifred Webb, had 15 children.
21. Elizabeth2 Thompson birth date unknown.
She married Matthew Scott Carlisle, PA, January 11, 1764. Matthew was born in Ireland 1739. Matthew was the son of John Scott and Jane Mitchell. Matthew died 1798 in PA, at 59 years of age. (See Matthew Scott for the children resulting from this marriage.)
22. John3 Scott (Robert4) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland 1689. John died 1749 Warwick, Bucks Co., PA, at 60 years of age. His body was interred Neshimany Presbyterian Church, Warwick, Bucks Co., PA.
He married Jane Mitchell. John Scott emigrated to Pennsylvania from northern Ireland in 1740.
John Scott and Jane Mitchell had the following children:

24 ii. James Scott was born in Scotland.
25 iii. Joseph Scott. Joseph died 1770 in PA. Joseph Scott never married.
26 iv. William Scott was born in at sea.
27 v. Mary Scott. She married Joseph Barnhill.
28 vi. Margaret Scott. Margaret Scott never married.
29 vii. John Scott was born in Scotland 1724. John died 1799 in PA, at 75 years
of age. He married Agnes McElroy.
30 viii. Moses Scott was born in Ireland ca 1738. He married
Anna Johnson.

31. Jane3 Mitchell birth date unknown.
She married John Scott. John was born in Edinburgh, Scotland 1689. John was the son of Robert Scott. John died 1749 Warwick, Bucks Co., PA, at 60 years of age. Robert Scott is said to have been a member of the Scottish Parliament. He emigrated to northern Ireland before 1727.
