Life @ Our House

This a view of our home from the front. We've lived here since December, 1990. In the common vernacular of the neighborhood it is known as "The Pink House."

The Mickey

Each year Laura plants a flower bed in the shape of Mickey Mouse. It sort of resembles the one found at the main entrance to Disneyland. It is a well-known attraction in the neighborhood. Once it fills in, Laura usually gets a lot of nice comments about it.

Wildlife

We have a combination bird feeder and squirrel feeder that Erik and I put up. It's fun to watch how many different kinds of birds come to visit in just a short time. During certain times of the day squirrels will venture out from their home in the bushes to get some corn.

You can see that the ear of corn at the bottom has been picked clean.

Notice also the busy tail hanging from the bird feeder above.

Being the Cub Scouts' Webelos Den Leader, I decided to make bird feeders one day. The boys built them, filled them with seeds. Then they told me that they rode their bikes and couldn't carry them home, and that they'd be by to pick them up later.

I set the feeders out on the front porch. A couple of days went by, and still no boys. But the local wildlife didn't seem to mind.

Our Back Yard

 The Treehouse

It's not actually in a tree but that's what we call it. Erik, with his baseball cap on is climbing to the top. Once atop, you have a commanding view of the backyard. There is even a 1X telescope up there to help spot things.

 The Playhouse

A whole different thing from the treehouse altogether. This was built originally by my dad in his backyard about 15 years ago.

A few years ago he offered it to me. With a bit of help I got it disassembled and moved to my backyard. It looks a bit weathered, probably because it is. I'm working on it right now and hopefully it will be painted and new-looking sometime this summer.

As you can see I'm busily slaving away at restoring the playhouse to its former state of grandeur.

The roof had to be dismanteled into three pieces to be removed. The walls each came apart as separate units. The original floor was pretty much worn out and had to be discarded. The paint job will be redone.

This is an approximation of what the playhouse will look like once I have finished painting it.

 The Trampoline

The trampoline is enjoyed by all.

This is Amy taking her turn at it.

More things.
