He would like you to get to know Him!
Salvation is the single theme that separates Christianity from all of the other types of religion. The Bible tells us that by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, that we are forever prevented from destruction. The Bible speaks of the afterlife and tells us that there is a literal Heaven and Hell, and that the only way we can avoid hell is to accept God's forgiveness offered through His Son, Jesus. Accepting the offer of forgiveness is the most important and best decision any of us can ever make. At the moment that you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are instantly, totally, and completely saved for all of eternity. In fact, the transformation is so radical that the Bible says that our old self actually dies and we become an entirely new creation (Romans 6:6). This means that all of our past misdeeds are forever wiped from the slate and we get a fresh start.
The world talks of making a fresh start, but the only real way to make a fresh start is to turn to Jesus and to the blessed forgiveness that is offered. Once we make this fresh start, many things change for us. The Bible says "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). This means that never again will the condemnation of others affect us, it also means that God will not condemn us for what we have done. Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal savior, we become brothers and sisters with Jesus himself, and we gain an additional father in the form of God. Never again will any of us be subject to punishment or condemnation for our actions. This is the most wonderful news that any of us can ever hear. No matter what we have done, God still loves us, and he still wants us to be His children and be with Him for all eternity in Heaven!
Now, I'm sure that the major question that many of you have is, how do I become a Christian? Many people think that if they are good people who give to charity, help others, or attend church, that those actions will provide redemption. However, the Bible says, "It is by grace that you have been saved...it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) No matter how much good you do, it is never enough. The only way to obtain salvation is accept it freely as a gift, you cannot work hard enough to obtain it on your own. So if you can't earn it, how do you get it? The Bible says "that if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10) Really, it is that simple. There is no need to go through a big process, no need to send money, and no need to get dressed up and go someplace to complete the process.
