Mrs. Mary Jane Brooks, 67, of Union-tp, died Monday, July 15, in Mercy hospital at Canton. She was the daughter of James and Jane Rutledge and was born in Union-tp, February 7, 1862. She was united in marriage to David Thomas Brooks on December 25, 1884, and to this union six children were born, Ross, Bertha, Theora and Wilbur, of the home, and Mrs. Jettie Coffy and Elvin Brooks of Union-tp, all of whom survived. She is also survived by her husband, 5 grandchildren, and on sister, Mrs. Lank Wagner, of Carrollton. Mrs. Brooks spent nearly all of her life in Union-tp. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant church. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 16, at the Mt. Pleasant church with Rev. J H Longsworth of Sherrodsville, officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

William Coffy, 77, died Monday May 26 at the home of his daughter Mrs. William Rutledge at Palermo. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis suffered 2 months ago. He is survived by 4 sons and 4 daughters. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Methodist Protestant church at Palermo.

John Coffy, 77, died Saturday, March 21, at his home near Palermo. He was born July 19, 1854, the son of William and Margaret Coffy. Mr. Coffy was married February 15, 1877 to Margaret C. Brooks, who proceeded him in death. To this union the following children were born: Viola J. Moore, deceased; F W Coffy and Ida, of the home; Mary M. Butterfield, of Perry tp; J W Coffy, of Leesville; W.L. Coffy of Carrollton; Sarah King, of Palermo; Homer of Uhrichsville; Lela Boyd of Bowerston, and Samuel C. of Leavittsville. He is also survived by 29 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Palermo M P church. Funeral services were held March 23, at the M.P. church at Palermo with Rev. J H Longsworth, officiating.

Union Township, T M King, who died in Stark co last week, was buried at Palermo Monday. He was a native of this township having built the house in Petersburg now owned by J H Miller.

Homer Brooks
Homer Brooks, 75, died Friday, October 29, at his home in Perry-tp. He was born January 27, 1868, a son of Francis and Mary (McQueen) Brooks and was a life resident of that community. Mr. Brooks wa married to Miss Addie Semple on January 10, 1891, she having preceded him in death two years ago. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Palermo Methodist Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Estella West of Canton; a brother, S.R. Brooks of the home and a nephew and sister-son, Edward Brooks, also of the home. Services were held Monday in the home and later in Palermo church with Rev. J.H. Longsworth officiating.
