WELCOME to:
Lassie Came Home
This is my "Master" Jim. I came to live with him when I was 6 weeks old. He always wanted a Collie puppy, and even though I am 11 years old now, and weigh 114 lbs., he still calls me his 'puppy.' Sometimes I act like a puppy just to please him! Jim is my best friend, and I eat up his praises. I also eat up all the 'treats' he gives me! But he gives me 'special' kinds of treats, as you will read about below. There will be a 'recipe' at the END of the page for the treats. We live in Wisconsin, USA, but I have traveled a lot with my 'family.' I 'live up to' the "Collie" reputation of being well mannered, and my owners have never been refused a motel room with me at their side! I have learned to 'fit in' with my Master's plans!

Regarding MOTELS, I want to mention a few. BEST WESTERN has always welcomed me and my Masters, and in the summer of 1999 we came across a couple special ones; one is in Prentice, Wisconsin, and the room was fancy, with a fireplace, and alongside a beautiful pond and park -- it is called the Parkside Motel on Main Street -- the following "cute" invitation and WELCOME was at a motel in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
Pets Are Welcome At the Shadow Run Lodge, pets are always welcome. We ask that you inform the front desk personnel upon check-in.If you have a pet staying with you,
we ask that you please abide
by these few rules:
Pets are welcome at this motel. We have never had a pet that set
fire to the blankets, or a pet who
stole our towels, or played the TV
too loud, or had a noisy fight with
their travel companion. Nor, have we
ever had a pet get drunk and break
the furniture.
So........If your pet can vouch for you, then
YOU are welcome too!
And so we were VERY careful not to abuse their welcome, so that they will not have reason to refuse anyone who might come after us, who would be traveling with their pets.
This is Beverly, she is married to my Master Jim, and she is my next-best friend. We are seen here playing with the seagulls on a Lake Michigan beach. She brushes me, and actually is the one who chose me out of a litter of five. This 'brushing' is the only 'bath' I have ever had! She tells people I was the most frisky of the litter, but she liked my big white collar, and chose me to love me more than anyone else could. She was told with lots of love, I would settle down, and I did. She even lets me stay in the house, and I've only worn out 3 vacuum cleaners in my 11 years! Most people want to hug me, and so I let them. It makes her happy. Beverly also 'makes' my treats, which have kept my teeth sparkling white and my breath fresh -- you can find the RECIPE at the end of the page, after my last picture! She likes to write Christian Novels, and she wrote about me in a book called PURE GOLD. You can read about it below, and I hope you will buy a copy. It has my picture on it, and tells a lot about me, for I am one of God's creatures too!
PURE GOLD is a popular modern love story featuring "Lassie," as well as situations with the police, NY, Olympics, news media, etc.
Beverly and Jim have been trained as Law Enforcement Chaplains, in Carol Stream, IL and volunteered as chaplains to the police in Wisconsin. This story vividly reveals the purpose of trials in the Christian's walk, and will be a great encouragement for all to 'take a stand' for the Gospel! You can order PURE GOLD [274 pgs] at the address below, for $9.00 including shipping.
This is me and my 'second home.' When Beverly and Jim have to travel or are in meetings that last very long [they are both speakers], then I get to stay with Bev's Mom. I am helping her crochet a center-piece here. Beverly also takes me to nursing homes where people can pet me. I love people, and they seem to be very happy and like to talk about their pets when they pet me. They always have a smile on their face, saying "come back soon!"
LEMUEL is the top seller of Bev's books. Before I came to live with the Kelly's, they had a German Shepherd named Lady.
Now, she "looked" like a GS, so they tell me, but she had a little 'Collie' in her, too, and so while she looked and sounded ferocious, she really was gentle, like me. Beverly wrote a little about her in this book. People tell us that we should give a box of Kleenix with each book, because it is a very 'touching' story. Some people have purchased 15 copies to give away as gifts! When Beverly rode with the Officer of the K-9 patrol, she grew to respect the differences between the GS and me, her gentle Collie. A German Shepherd, by reputation incites a certain fear and respect, and can readily be taught to "attack" on command. I, however, will "defend" but do not like to initiate an "attack."
"LEMUEL" means "Devoted to God" and is the story about a couple who have a baby that is born blind, and all the stigma that is attached to it. You will walk with "Lemuel" as well as Andrew, Peter and Simon the Tanner. LEMUEL has 198 pgs, and you can purchase it here for $9.00 including shipping.
MARCIE is a touching story of a young orphaned girl and how she finds peace in the midst of her loneliness.
This story is great for encouraging those who have friends/relatives who have backslidden from their commitment to Christ. It is a beautiful story about learning to pray and keeping the Gospel simple as Jesus intended. Though we live in a land where there is 'freedom of religion,' there are many who do not know Jesus as Lord! 102 pgs, $5.00 including shipping.

NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON?
Everyone knows a 'man's best friend is his dog' because you can tell your dog anything and he will never repeat it -- same is true with talking to Jesus in prayer [and He answers]. Lassie says that Bev will also lend a sympathetic ear -- Is being a Pastor's wife or a Christian not what you expected? I've "been there" over 25 years! You need not fear to bare your heart - no one else will know - Before you give up - Before you quit - Before you walk away, EMAIL ME!

In keeping with this 'new life', reading habits also had to be changed. They soon discovered that there was a very limited amount of 'Christian' material available.
Beverly prayed, "Take me, Use me" and it was then that she began to write the above novels. [She has several more ready to be published] Like "Dino" who plays such anointed Christian music, she says she is FULL OF STORIES JUST BURSTING TO BE TOLD!
Some have asked "WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?" Beverly says "Look around you!" While she may be waiting in the car while Jim is putting gasoline in the tank, she will pray for people at the pumps, and get ideas of different characters; if Jim is on a hospital visit and she is waiting in the lounge, she watches the people and can 's ee' characters. The plots are thoughts t hat come from scriptures or different situations, plus a very VIVID IMAGINATION as to 'how things could be'. Then she gets alone with God, prays, and writes.
Lassie's 'Master' Jim is an excellent Bible Teacher/Preacher [see last half of this page] and Beverly is an avid note-taker , so any 'wisdom' in her books goes to the Glory of our Lord, and thanks for the husband He gave Beverly!
THE NOVELS have been advertized in CHARISMA MAGAZINE, Christian newspapers, Barnes & Noble, and are in 'some' Christian Book Stores.
If you need to use your credit card to purchase Bev's books, you may order them through the Barnes and Noble Booksellers link here.
YOU WILL RECEIVE FASTER SERVICE and save $$ ordering directly from the author, and the books will be AUTOGRAPHED!!
WANT TO KNOW WHO OUR FAVORITE AUTHORS ARE? [were] Some have gone on to be with the Lord --Grace Livingston Hill, Hilda Stahl, Eugenia Price, Gilbert Morris, Janet Oke, Frank Peretti, Michael Phillips, Larry Burkett, Paul Meier, to mention a few. When a 'reader' can easily read a book a week, there are not enough authors to fill the need! Beverly is constantly getting letters asking for more books! For 'Secular' writers, we like John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, and Louis L'Amour.
Shown above is a picture of "Pastor" Jim with his "Tabernacle of Moses" display at a District Meeting. He has built ALL the furniture 'to scale' from the Holy of Holies and the Most Holy Place in the Tabernacle of Moses, and teaches on it. Seen here is "Aaron the High Priest" and a mini-overview of the Tabernacle.

When my "master" is working with the wood, he lets me lay in the sawdust and watch him, but when he begins to spray the gold paint, I find someplace else to 'wander' and usually it is to Beverly who then brushes the sawdust out of my hair and gives me a 'treat.' The picture above shows all of the 'furniture' my Master made, according to the Book of Exodus.

My Master tells everyone that even Hollywood got in on the act of "where is the Ark of the Covenant' today?" and he likes to say with a twinkle in his eye, "in my garage!" There is a lot of 'mystery' about the Ark shown here, but of course I know the secret. Do you?

Above is a "Shofar" -- a Ram's Horn Pastor Jim blows during the t eachings on the Tabernacle of Moses, and sings the Aaronic Benediction in Hebrew. ["The Lord Bless you and Keep you ..."]

BEECHER ASSEMBLY OF GOD
This is the church where Jim pastored until he retired in July of 2002. It is located 75 miles North of the Green Bay PACKERS, on Hwy 141. I know lots of 'words,' and 'church' is one of them.
Lassie also has many relatives who like to play with her. Even though she has lots of nice long [soft] hair that gets on their clothes, they love her. Pictured below is a FATHER/SON team. They do GOSPEL CHALK ART. Lassie cannot 'sniff' the chalk because it would get on her nose and on her white paws and no one wants her to make big paw 'tracks' all over!
GOSPEL CHALK ART is being revived! A 'picture' is worth a thousand words! While they draw the picture, they tell a story, and then when the lights are turned off, a 'hidden' picture is revealed. Shown above is Pastor Rick Mannon and son, Joshua. Joshua is now in his 20's and married; still involved in Gospel Chalk Art. For more information about them, look at their home page below:
I thought you might like to see what "winter" is like in Wisconsin, in case you live in an area where you don't have snow.
I like the snow, and the Lord has blessed me with a special 'thick' undercoat that keeps me warm in winter and cool in the summer! I usually don't begin to 'shed' or 'drop' my coat until almost September! The above scene was taken in February; Wisconsin usually has snow from mid November - mid March. This is a road past our house.
Pictured here is a 'mountain ash' covered with snow. Doesn't it remind you of 'though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be whiter than snow?'
THIS PAGE WILL BE FREQUENTLY UPDATED WITH NEW LINKS TO CHRISTIAN PLACES or PICTURES, SO STOP IN OFTEN! AND DON'T FORGET TO ORDER BEVERLY'S BOOKS!
THIS WAS A LOT OF WORK, FOLKS, BUT IT WAS ALSO FUN! HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT. I am glad I 'found a home' with the Kelly's. I would never run away. They have moved [because of the ministry] 3 times, and each time they just walk me around the property edges every day for a week, and so I know the 'boundaries.' I never stray from them. I have lived in the city, and in the country, and as long as I have lots of fresh water, shade, and LOVE, I am happy! I often hear Bev and Jim talking about me and how they love having me indoors. They said because I had so much 'energy' when I was a puppy, another 'owner' would have penned me up outside. I am so thankful they loved me enough to 'let me in' and were patient with me while I investigated everything and 'grew up'. I think I have taught them well, don't you?
I promised to share the recipe for my favorite treats with you. I am given one or two during the day [just because they love me] and two at night before I let them go to bed and read. I am 12 years old, and my teeth are perfect; white and strong!
A SAD UPDATE before you read the recipe. The title of this page is "Lassie Came Home"... however, since the last entry, Lassie "went" Home. She must be walking the streets of gold with her new "Master" the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You, Jesus, for letting us love her for twelve happy years. thank You for taking her home pain-free. We look for the day we'll be reuinted with You in Heaven. Until then... keep on loving us, as we know you also love her. We do miss her but are thankful for the happy memories"...... Kellys
COLLIE TREATS:
2 cups uncooked oatmeal
5 tablespoons beef bouillion [powdered]
1 stick margarine [1/2 cup]
3 cups boiling water
Unless you have lots of muscles, use your electric mixer with a 'bread' paddle, not the regular beaters. Combine the above in the mixer, and sprinkle in:
Liquid Smoke flavoring and "Jerky" seasoning if you have it.
ADD:
1 cup wheat bran or oat bran
1/4 cup honey OR sugar
2 eggs, raw
6-8 cups stone-ground wheat flour OR wheat/rye mixture flour.
I actually don't measure the flour, but just keep adding it until it is super stiff! Sprinkle some of the flour on your bread-board and roll out the dough to 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick or so. You can purchase a dog-bone-shaped cutter from most Kitchen Departments where the 'cookie' cutters are. Even though Lassie is a 'big' dog, she likes the medium size 'bones' best, but make whatever your dog is used to. Cut the bones out and lay on ungreased cookie sheets. ALSO, you can 'roll' the scraps into various size pieces and bake, so there is NO waste. Your Collie will like them all. NOW bake in a 325 degree oven for one hour, shut oven off and leave in overnight. Then place in a paper bag or something 'open' so they remain hard. If you seal them, they will become soft, and you want them hard. This recipe makes 50-65 bones, depending on the size.
A special note: We used to purchase doggie treats/bones in the store, but found the teeth were not getting 'clean.' Then we began to make the above 'treats' and it solved the 'problem' completely! If you are able to add the Jerky and Smoke seasonings, your biggest "problem" will be the tasty, pleasant odor while they are in the oven! If you hear your Collie 'whining' while they are baking, that is why!
I KNOW YOU WILL ENJOY THE BOOKS EVEN MORE THAN THIS PAGE! MY "MASTER" WILL BE HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU!
