LASSIE HERE AGAIN; OK -- friends, I want to share Beverly's recipe for my favorite treats.  And everyone knows... we 'lassie dogs' have beautiful teeth and sweet breath... my 'masters' tell me that I have never had bad breath, and they attribute it to these treats.  They can believe that, ... but I JUST LIKE THEM!   Actually... when she starts to mix them up and bake them, they have to practically drag me out of the kitchen... they smell

GREAT!

LASSIE'S SPECIAL DOG TREATS:

2 c oatmeal

5 T beef boullion

1 stick margerine or butter

1 T each Liquid Smoke & Jerky Seasoning

3 c BOILING water

BLEND THE ABOVE IN LARGE BOWL. Carefully add:

2 eggs

1 c wheat bran OR oat bran

1/4 c honey or sugar

6-8 c wheat flour...MIX IN GRADUALLY TO A VERY STIFF DOUGH.

Roll out and cut into dog-bone shapes [with dog-bone cookie cutter] OR make into 'rolls' about 6" long, whatever shapes you want for your special 4-legged friend.  YIELD:  65

BAKE at 325 on cookie sheets for 1 hour; shut off oven and LEAVE IN OVEN OVERNIGHT.  Store in open containers;NOT sealed.
