Information on the Crane Scout's Website

The original idea and proposal of this website came from our present webmaster, Daniel Ang, in December 1997. The web was scoured for free space providers and fortunecity was the most suitable at that time, since it provided the most webspace and its low traffic meant less lag in loading pages.

The page was hence registered at http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/lightyear/53/.

A mirror site was also registered at http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Classroom/2542/

However the feedback from many quarters was the URLs were extremely unfriendly and difficult to remember. Subscription to V3 redirection services shortened the URLs substantially to become http://come.to/dhsscout.org as well as http://come.to/dhsscout2.org.

Our group recently joined the plan to bring all the Scout's websites onto one server at http://scouts.online.com.sg/dhsscout/, this particular site is now up and running as the third mirror of our webpage.  It can also be found at http://www.dhsscout.home.dhs.org/  

In our recent upgrading, the geocities webspace was found to be inadequate and hence a new account at crosswinds, which offers unlimited space was opened, and the geocities account terminated.  The crosswinds account is at http://home.crosswinds.net/~cranescouts/ .

V3 Redirection services also chose this time to change the conditions of membership, hence this service was terminated in favour of domain host services which offered free redirection.
