John Thompson HALL was b. August 24, 1842 in Abbeville, South Carolina, and wife Lennorah [DOUGHTEN] HALL was b. August 27, 1848 in Tennessee, and children: Sarah HALL 13 born in Tennessee Charles HALL 11 born in Tennessee Nashville HALL 7 born in Tennessee Harty HALL (female) 5 born in Tennessee John HALL 3 born in Tennessee Iode HALL (female) 4 months born in Tennessee were located in the 1880 Marion County, Arkansas Census living in Sugarloaf Township, in Household #290. John Thompson HALL [listed as John T. HALL was 39], and wife Lenorrah [Lenorha DOUGHTEN, was 32] in the 1880 census. Here's the story that has been passed around among the children of one of their descendant, John Polar HALL. When John Polar HALL was a child, he lost both of his parents and was left in the care of his older brother Charlie HALL, along with his other siblings, Ted HALL, Nash HALL, Harty HALL, and Odey HALL. John HALL and Charlie HALL couldn't get along, so John HALL took a hand saw and set out for Oklahoma. But history contradicts that because both John Polar HALL and his brother Charley HALL are in the 1900 Hart Township, Pontotoc County, Indian Territory Census living next door to each other. John Polar HALL, wife Adney Iris BARNETT and two small children Edna and Renzo HALL are listed in it, as well as Charley HALL, wife Rose and daughter Pearl HALL. John Polar HALL and Adney "Ad" Iris BARNETT were married in Hart, Pontotoc County, Indian Territory on November 9, 1896. By the time of the 1910 Census, John Polar HALL, and Adeline or Adney BARNETT HALL had moved to Custer County, Washita Township, OK. In the 1920 Census, they were back in Pontotoc County, OK again this time living in Fitzhugh Towhship. The John Polar HALL family moved to Marlow, Stephens County, OK in 1924 before moving on to Duncan, Stephens County, OK in 1933. Both John Polar Hall and Adeline (Adney) Iris "Ad" BARNETT HALL died in Duncan, Stephens County, OK and are buried in the cemetery at Rush Springs, Grady County, OK. Adeline Iris "Adney" BARNETT's parents were Roy John "Pappy" BARNETT b. abt 1846 in Alabama, and Lidia Lane or Delane RAY. I don't have their birth dates, but I do know that Lidia BARNETT died when she was 44 years old in 1891 or 1892 from child birth fever (Blood poisoning). Adeline Iris "Adney" BARNETT was born February 28, 1879 in Indian Territory. John Thompson HALL and wife Lenorha [DOUGHTEN] HALL actually moved to Hood County, Texas soon after the 1880 census was taken. John Thompson HALL died there in 1884, and wife Lenorha died in 1891. Both are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery just outside of Lipan in Hood County, Texas. According to what I've been able to learn, Charles Richard Hall, the oldest son of John T. and Lenorha HALL was still single and living at home at the time his parents died. According to a letter that was found both he and his sister Hardy were still there although Harty Vernette HALL had married Fred FULKS by this time. Charles Richard HALL married Rosezette Frances ADMIRE in Hood Co., TX in 1892. Sometime between the time of his mother's death in 1891, and when the 1900 census was taken, he moved with his wife, and brood of younger siblings to Indian Territory. Only John Polar HALL, sister I. O. D. HALL, and brother's Tedy Thompson HALL, and Thomas "Tommy" HALL were put in his care as guardian of the younger children. Times were hard, and John Polar HALL married in 1896, and I. O. D. HALL married Nona "Noona" B. PARKS in 1896 leaving just Tedy and Tommy in Charles HALL's care. Tedy ran away and hopped a train to California leaving Tommy with Charles. Charles and wife Rosa [Rosette...the spelling varies] had eight children themselves, with several dying as babies. Charles later leaves Oklahoma and Rosa and takes at least two of the children with him to California, and is later joined by two others. Tedy Thompson HALL in the meantime marries Margaret Ellen "Maggie" OWEN after reaching California. I'm not sure what happened to Thomas "Tommy" HALL at that time. He later married a woman by the name of Audrey and ended up living in St. Louis, Missouri where he was a painter and played the violin. Tommy HALL died about 1931-32. He and Audrey had one child, a daughter. I don't know her name. I. O. D. [HALL] PARKS lived around Hammon, Oklahoma and is buried there. We have heard that she worked among the Indians. She and N. B. PARKS had seven children. Harty Vernette [HALL] FULKS and husband Fred lived in Weatherford, Texas. They had eight children also. They both lived to old age [he 95; she 91] are buried there in Weatherford's cemetery. Nashville D. HALL was married twice. He married Delia MARTIN in Parker County, Texas in 1893. They had one son...name unknown. They evidently divorced, and as the story goes she stayed with her family there in Texas. Nashville D. "Nash" HALL then married Ida FALLS in Oklahoma and they had seven children. Nashville D. HALL is buried in the Duncan Cemetery, Stephens County, Oklahoma. He and Ida divorced. Nash Hall was living in Duncan, OK at the time of his death. He had gone to Texas to visit his son Julius and died while he was there.< Sarah Ann HALL, the oldest child of John Thompson HALL and Lenorha [DOUGHTEN] HALL was still home when her father died, but married Joseph Johnson HART in 1895 soon after his death. She and Joseph "Joe" HART had eleven children. They later divorced and she is buried in Bellview, Curry County, New Mexico. Here are the children of John Polar HALL & Adeline Iris "Adney" BARNETT HALL. CHILDREN: Edna Viola HALL Renzo HALL [Died as a child] Dolly HALL Ephraim HALL Marie HALL [Died as a child] Hamon HALL [Died as a child] Homer H. HALL Elizabeth "Sis" HALL Otis HALL Alice HALL Fred HALL Dorothy Hall Flossie Belle HALL Maudie Rose HALL John Thompson HALL's parents were John R. HALL born January 20, 1820 in South Carolina, and Mary Ann ? born January 16, 1823 in South Carolina. John R. and Mary Ann HALL are buried in Chickamauga Cemetery in Walker County, Georgia. They were the parents of 12 children: Elizabeth J. HALL b. October 4, 1840 John Thompson HALL b. January 20, 1842 William Franklin HALL b. August 19, 1844 James Phillip HALL b. May 12, 1846 Mary Ann HALL b. February 6, 1848 Susan Octavia HALL b. May 5, 1850 Infant HALL Frances Isabella HALL b. November 2, 1853 George Marshall Mariney HALL b. June 5, 1856 Joseph Washington HALL b. February 22, 1859 Albert L. HALL b. April 13, 1863 John R. HALL died in 1906 and was survived by three children: William Franklin HALL, Joseph HALL, and Albert HALL. If you know anything about any of the HALL's liste above I would love to exchange information with you about this HALL line. I would particularly like to find who the parents of John R. HALL were and there are tons of HALL's in South Carolina! Lenorha [DOUGHTEN] HALL's parents were Charles Gabriel DOUGHTEN and Sarah W. HODGES. According to information given on an application for a pension on John T. HALL's Civil War pension filled out by son Charles Richard HALL, John T. and Lenorha [DOUGHTEN] were married on February 14, 1864. The story told was that they 'ran away to get married', but if the 1880 Marion Co., Arkansas census is correct they remained in Tennessee for the birth of all of their children except Tedy and Tommy HALL. Lenorha [DOUGHTEN] HALL had at least three siblings, Charles Gabriel DOUGHTEN, John Thomas DOUGHTEN, and C. J. [sex unknown] DOUGHTEN. It is believed she could have had a half-brother named James CHARLTON, and possibly a half-sister named Mary CRANE. |
