There's A Crumpet In My Trumpet!

There's a crumpet in my trumpet !

Oh, whatever shall I do ?

There's a crumpet in my trumpet

--Thank goodness it's not in my shoe !

I remember, once, I found a newt

Fast asleep in my new flute,

But he was ever so polite,

When I asked him to leave one night !

I even discovered a bass,

Swimming in my double-base

--But I have absolutely no idea,

How he got there in the first place !

After that, I had to dry out my double-base,

And got water ALL OVER the place !

NOW, there's a CRUMPET in my TRUMPET !

Oh, whatever shall I do ?

If YOU had a crumpet in YOUR trumpet,

What would YOU do ?

Would you make a cup of tea ?

Or buy a jar of raspberry jelly ?

Would you try to blow it out ?

Or maybe just scream and yell and shout ?

Well, here's just what I did...

I just sat myself right down,

Didn't cry, or shout or frown

--Because that doesn't do any good, you know...

I just held on good and tight,

And I blew with all my might !

The poor, little crumpet shot out into the air;

Out of my trumpet with such flair.

Then, it landed on the floor.

--In fact, it landed in front of the door.

My neighbor, Wally, didn't see it on the floor,

When he opened up my front door.

As he stepped inside

--He SQUASHED IT underneath his shoe ! Oh my !

So that's the tale of the little crumpet,

That found its way into my trumpet.

When at last it was set free awhile,

It found itself squashed into a little pile !

There WAS a crumpet in my trumpet !

But I knew just what to do.

There was a crumpet in my trumpet !

But I blew it right out

--just like you might do, too !

Got all dirty!

I gots me all dirty

My mom just might yell

But it was 'cause of the dog

--He nudged me and I fell

I know he didn't mean it

He only wanted to play

But mom saw all the mud

So now I'm in the house to stay

--until tomorrow.

Watch out mud!

New puppy.

Ball of fur

and wagging tail

he jumps on the couch

and chews up the mail

but he's oh so cute

and lovable, too...

getting a new puppy

was the right thing to do !

Hair scare.

think about your hair

and then make sure

that it's still there

because you can never be sure

when it comes to hair. . .

--but do you really care

as long as YOU'RE still there ?

The Slide.

Sliding down the slide today

I thought that I could fly away

but when I reached the bottom fast

I found my flying didn't last

I think I'll try the slide once more

then I can really, really soar

so I'll climb right back up

and slide again and again and again. . .

Makin' mud pies!

Makin' mud pies

out in the sand box

after a summer shower

I'm sure that my mom will call me

within the hour

but until she does

I'll be scooping away

at the gushy, mushy mud

makin' mud pies.

No! No! No!

"No! No! No!" I said

"I don't like beans!"

so I stamped my feet

and screamed and screamed

"No! No! No!"

that's just what I said

so my mom yelled, "TO BED!"

--I guess maybe I'll try some beans next time. . .

Flower for a gloomy day.

Please paint me a flower

a beautiful one

with green and blue and gold

a soft, little flower

I can smell and water and hold

Please paint me a flower

as it's such a rainy, gloomy day

one that'll bring the sunshine

and chase the gray clouds away.

Missing socks.

Missing socks, missing socks

where do they all go ?

I asked them one day

but they wouldn't say

It's a secret

I guess I'll never know.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Books!

Books, books

I like to read

I like to look

so I'll find a nook

to read my book

and don't bother me

'til I'm done

'cause I'm discoverin'

a whole lotta fun. . .

--in my books.

You call that math ???

1, 2, 3

buzzes the bee

divide by the middle, and you get the last

divide by the last, and you get the middle

add 'em all up, then divide by one

you'll get the answer

and the poem is done !

blocks

The little construction worker

stacks his blocks

with care and precision

to build his dreams

yet unrecognized

by mom and dad

on that lazy Sunday afternoon. . .

marbles, marbles

Marbles, marbles everywhere

rolling all over the floor

marbles rolling down the stairs

and rolling out the door !

Now, Daddy didn't see 'em

when he came home from work

he stepped right in my marble patch

and fell and went berserk !

I guess I should be careful next time

when I play marbles on the floor

'cause if Daddy slips and falls again

then he'll roll ME right out the door !

leaves

The wind is blowing

the leaves in circles

--what a great design !

each swirl in turn

moves more and more leaves

as the wind keeps blowing

the leaves in circles. . .

Lazy day for me.

I just sat still

the little ant was busy at work

many clouds sailed gently by

a few dogs barked

some babies cried

each blade of grass

danced lightly in the wind

the ants found a crumb

and I just sat still

…and watched.

Each summer.

A wave crashed over the beach

and the little sandcastle wondered

how much longer will it be

how much longer for me ?

"Don't worry little castle," I say

I'll build you back up again

summer after summer after summer…

Shinning bright at night.

The moon was smiling down at me

and winking one eye, too

so I just smiled back at him

--what else was I to do ?

After all, it just wouldn't be right

to be impolite

to the moon shinning so bright

for us every night.

Off to school.

As I stepped through

the school bus door

I looked back at my mother

she was smiling at me

and so was my little brother

I was sure they were glad

the I was off to school

so they could read and play

and go for a swim in the pool

but when I got home

and saw the cookies they made

my mom said they were for me

'cause they missed me all day.

Winter Snow Fun

The falling snow looked like so much fun

So I went outside to play

But after 30 minutes

The fun just went away

My nose ran so very much

I sneezed and sneezed "AH-CHOO !"

I couldn't feel my little toes

And my fingers turned all blue !

So, back inside I ran

Away from my new snowman

My mom made me some soup to warm up

Then I got ready to go back out again !

Sunshine

Oh, sunshine !

to dance

and laugh

and sing

Oh, sunshine !

what happiness you bring !

No way--well, maybe

No way, No way

I just won't go

'cause I wanna stay

I wanna stay awhile and play

So I won't go away

--Well, unless you've got some ice cream

for me today.

Chocolate the Mostest !

I like chocolate

the mostest

but vanilla is OK, as well

Strawberry is great sometimes

and as for chocolate chip

--it's hard to tell,

I need another taste.

sooooooooooooooo fast!

Busy bunny, busy bunny

I saw you running by

Little bunny, little bunny

I wanted to say, "Hi."

--But you're soooooooooooo fast !
