We live in a complex world
a few months ago a satellite went down
and people had problems communicating
phone systems and pagers didn't work
Think about the things you depend upon
electricity for light and a car for transportation
a stores for food and clothing
indoor plumbing, refrigerator, stove, microwave, TV
Air conditioning and heat
modern conveniences
Just let one of these conveniences go away
and see how much you really depend upon them
then consider what or who you should depend on
{8:36} For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? {8:37} Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:36-37
I have learned to diligently watch for the hand of God in my life
I have come to see this life as a journey
not to Him, but with Him
and I see that God is doing a work in me
{3:11} I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: {3:12} Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. {3:13} Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to bebaptized of him.
Matthew 3:11-13
He is making me into something useful
something that He has purposed
I find my purpose in Him
and am becoming dependent upon His hand
{9:18} While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
Matthew 9:18
But first we need to die to self
then His hand can raise us up
{14:31} And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Matthew 14:31
and when out faith isn't strong enough for us to walk on water
He catches us
All these conveniences we depend upon let us down
but with Him you're in
dependable hands
{8:38} For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, {8:39} Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
