Normally I wouldn't plug a retreat, or some organization or event. But there are some things that inspire us in ways we didn't know possible. The last message I sent out "Touched by the Spirit of Grace" is my best effort to relate to you what happened to me over this past weekend.
I attended something called the Emmaus Walk. Some of you have probably already been so you can easily relate to the things I'm about to say. Others may have heard of it. I can only encourage you to go. I am certainly willing to answer any questions I can about it.
Any statement I tried to make about the walk would be an understatement. Words just can't begin to describe this walk. Perhaps however a name does describe it. Jesus.
It doesn't really matter if you are a mature Christian, or if you're a recent convert, or even if you really don't know the Lord. Jesus will be there when you go on the walk and that's all that really matters.
Outside of my conversion experience I can think of nothing else that has had a more significant impact on my life. Now you might wonder how I can say that since it was just this weekend. The same way I knew right after my conversion that I would never have a more important moment in my life.
Everyone who went on the walk with me came away with what they needed. We all came away with something that perfectly fit each of us. Some needed deliverance from something, others need to see certain things about themselves. Me, I needed a realization of "My grace is sufficient". In fact as I reflect I could probably spend a whole weekend talking about how I saw that.
Perhaps the best observation I heard from someone was this. On the Emmaus Walk you get a glimpse of what the body of Christ should be like. The love, the brotherhood, the unity of the faith, the grace...it's ALL there! It's there because Jesus is there.
God bless you all, In the grace of God go I, with love, Rocky
