{51:10} Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. {51:11} Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. {51:12} Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:10-12
It all starts with thoughts
We think something
Then those thoughts become words
We speak something
If we entertain those thoughts
If we keep repeating those words
Our actions begin to follow
Out of the heart the mouth speaks
As a man thinks in his heart so he is
We try to contain our thoughts
We fight our thinking to get it right
But some things are stuck in so deeply
And they are reinforced in subtle ways
So they become a thorn
A clog
Somehow these clogs have to be flushed out
Sometimes we have to get face to face with it
Then when we see the hurt of these things
We can then hear what we need to hear
Would David have listened if Nathan had told him before hand
'Don't do this thing with Uriaha's wife Bethsheeba'
But afterwards, when the pain could be felt
David repented in dust and ashes
Reality can be a cruel teacher
But reality is also the best teacher
If we want to see God
We need a pure heart
Yet that's not something we can do
Only God can do it
Sometimes we have to be willing to go through the pain
To pull the thorn
To flush out the clog
{5:2} And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, {5:3} Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. {5:4} Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. {5:5} Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. {5:6} Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. {5:7} Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. {5:8} Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. {5:9} Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. {5:10} Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. {5:11} Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
