Have You Hugged God Today?
Joseph felt shame so he thought to divorce Mary
God had to send an angel to show Joseph the truth
Adam and Eve were tempted with knowledge
Satan said they would know what God knows
the hate, and then SHAME
Shame and false knowledge seem to run around a lot
We think we know what we're doing and we find shame
Perhaps the worst place for this is in our prayers
We tell God what we want
And we seem to think we know what He needs to do
For example, I keep praying "Lord change my wife"
What I've been told to pray is "Lord give my wife a good husband"
Yep, we've got it all reasoned out
We've got our 5 steps
Our outlines and our tapes
And we're going to make it work
God's not interested
Have you ever noticed how sometimes you hug someone
perhaps they're wearing a lot of cologne or perfume
and maybe for a few hours you smell them on you
Well, we need to get the fragrance of God on us!
And it won't come by reasoning it all out
That kind of knowledge will only lead to shame
We just need to get still before God
Tell Him you love Him
Tell Him you need Him
Ask Him 'now what next Lord'
Let Him tell you
After all, He's the only one who really knows
So in all the wisdom God has shown me
I realize this
I don't know to do anything
I don't really know anything
All I know is I need to go give God a hug
That's all the wisdom we need
The knowledge that took our innocence away
yields to the wisdom that takes away our shame
Hug God today
