Humble Pie
Remember various delectable pies; each exciting the taste buds. Well, just what is humble pie; another sweet pie to finish off a meal?; not quite. The term humble pie derives from the British in the 18 Century when the best meat in the house went to the men and their friends. The women and children ate the umbles, consisting of the tongue and entrails, baked into a pie; an umble pie.
One no longer sees humble pie around much these days. Maybe it should be reinstated.
