Looking Beyond the Horizon

Sometimes we say we are looking for something
When in truth we are seeking something else
We say we are looking for happiness
When in truth we are seeking entertainment
We say we are looking for love
When in truth we are seeking to have our passion stroked

If you say someone owes you You have sought a debt The intimacy of love becomes a burden
If you go looking for error You have sought what is wrong The patience faith requires is then crippled
If you point at shame You have sought rejection The encouragement hope needs evaporates
Love holds no debt and forgives all Faith believes the truth will be found and holds it up Hope endures all things and does not disappoint
Seek and you shall find But do you know with certainty what you are seeking Are you seeking in name only Are you seeking with your heart
God has all the answers I believe He takes great pleasure when we seek Him out for them I know there is great joy when we find Him and understand them
Is God playing hide and seek with us Perhaps in a way He is To find what we need we must have Childlike faith, simple love and expectant hope
We must work for the answers But not in a manner of doing works In a manner that builds and brings The intimacy He wants with us The patience we need The encouragement we lack
In some ways it is like trying to see beyond the horizon We can see as far as the eye can see Yet we need to become certain of what we do not see We can walk forever towards the horizon Yet it always remains just beyond our grasp
With man this is impossible Yet with God We can see beyond the horizon Seek and ye shall find
