Reason it out
that's what the world says
funny how they reason Christmas
it's a time to be with family
a time to give
a time to receive
yet these reasons find their basis in
faith, hope and love
Kind of reminds me of the Dickens novel
Ebenezer Scrooge had it reasoned out
look how empty his life had become
until the three ghosts visited him
Ebenezer was a cold hearted man
until he saw the hope faith and love he'd lost
Strange how this is exactly what Jesus came for
He came for a world that had misplaced its
hope faith and love
somehow we reason it away
oh we keep a little for those close to us
but towards the rest of the world we say
BAH HUMBUG
I see a baby at mother's breast
what will that child learn first
how to reason
no that comes later although we put it first
between that mother and child
the first bridges of faith, hope and love are built
And what is that mother thinking
in her heart she is thinking the same thing God thought
love
and again we see the reason for the season
"for God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten son"
It always saddens me to see how the intellect of men
blinds their hearts to these simple facts
that after all things are gone
these three remain
faith, hope and love
as you think in your heart
so shall you be
think love
for that is what you are
