{14:23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. {14:24} He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. {14:25} These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. {14:26} But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. {14:27} Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:23-27

What a wonderful promise
but did you ever realize that it was coupled to following the
Spirit


There are two things Jesus said that are perhaps the two most
profound things in the Bible
 Where is your faith 
 Follow me and be made my disciple 


We are disciples of Christ
not just Jesus
but Jesus Christ
I say that because Jesus Himself was a disciple
a disciple of Christ


He was lead out into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit
He did only what He saw His Father do
and He said only what He heard His Father say


Jesus only paid attention to one thing
God
and God provided all the rest

{8:19} And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. {8:20} And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Matthew 8:19-20

In essence Jesus just asked this man
 are you going to be like me,
are you willing to trust God for everything? 
This is part of the discipline of being made His disciple


God doesn't need you to change the world
He doesn't need you to even change your town
He wants you to work on changing you!
and there is only one way to do that


Stop giving attention to all these other problems that you have
no control over 
stop worrying about the things you can't change
Start paying attention to what the Lord is saying and doing


I find myself in a time of great peace and rest
I stopped trying to  influence  things around me
and started focusing strictly upon what comes before me


Some might say I've stopped thinking for myself
Actually the opposite is true
I've stopped wasting my thoughts on other things
Now I enjoy the liberty of thinking about those things the Lord
brings to me


What's neat is this has actually been a series of lessons
God has reminded me to  Rest but keep moving 
 Take care of His business, and trust Him to take care of mine 
and now


 Peace, be still, for He is God 
When you believe that
and receive that
you will have that
 peace that only He can give 

{8:5} For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. {8:6} For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6

 Where is your faith 
Do you trust Him?
Do you want peace?
Then  follow Him and be made His disciple 
learn what that means!
