What happened upon the cross
was the completion (on God's part) of the covenant
and what is a covenant
It is an exchange of identities
When I married my wife I was no longer just Mr.
I was now Mr. And Mrs.
And my wife even changed her last name
she became permanently identified with me
When I accepted Jesus
I changed my identity
I became one with Him
He is Christ
I am Christian
So what all happens in this exchange
what is the point of this covenant
My weakness for His strength
My unrighteousness for His righteousness
the dishonorable for the honorable
the sin nature for the nature of the Spirit
I once asked God what it meant
Jesus became sin for us
How could He become sin?
It's in the exchange
I take off my cloak stained with sin and He puts it on
He takes off His cloak of righteousness and I put it on
like the exchange of vows
and the exchange of rings
I have identified myself with Him
And when I sin it is against Him!
I dishonor Him
I disrespect Him
He has become my sin
because that is were I break faith with Him
for anything apart from faith is sin
As in any relationship
there is really only one question
how much love is there
is it complete
or superficial
{14:23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
John 14:23
I am in Him
as He is in me
more than anything else
Christianity is an exchange of identities
it is the name we inherit when we enter in to the covenant
We are the Bride of Christ
Like Cinderella, we were a mistreated child
but our prince has come to sweep us off our feet
He has given us what we need to make ready for the wedding
I'm just wondering now
does anyone else hear wedding bells?
Are you ready?
