The Rock

{15:18} But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. Matthew 15:18

In the midst of his trial, Job's mouth reveals his heart.
He goes about justifying himself rather than God.
Job stands upon his own innocence!
The Lord said, "Job speaks words without knowledge".

We begin by trusting our ignorance and calling it innocence, by trusting our innocence and calling it purity. If I make conscious innocence the test I am likely to come to the place where I find with a shuddering awakening (like Job) that what Jesus Christ has said is true, and I shall be appalled at the possibility of evil and wrong in me. As long as I remain under the refuge of innocence I am living in a fool's paradise.
Don't trust in your behavior, your sin status, or your innocence and lest of all your ignorance. That is not the rock we are to stand upon. The rock we are to rest upon is this one.

{7:24} Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon arock: {7:25} And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matthew 7:24-25

Do what God tells you to do!
Our faith is to be in one place,
and one place only, God!

Job put his faith in his own reasoning and his own innocence. Job was not standing on the Rock. Are you being obedient to what God has said to you, or to some notion or view you have heard about God?
Job said,

{42:4} Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. {42:5} I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. {42:6} Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Job 42:4-6

What are you looking at,
the problem, your innocence, your guilt, your behavior,
your notions and ideas, some theology? What fills up your view?
If you are looking at anything but God you will not have rest.

The eye is the lamp of the body, if it is single the whole body will be full of light. What Job didn't know was this. There is a moral code and the Spirit of God is the code key!
Look only upon the Rock on which we stand. Take His words to heart. Mix the 'good news' you have heard with faith and enter into His rest. You'll know where you are standing by what comes out of your mouth when the pressure comes. If those words are pure water from the Rock you will not be speaking words without knowledge. You will be speaking the promises of God. Your voice will echo God's voice. Your house will not fall when the storm comes.

{10:16} He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. {10:17} And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. {10:18} And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall fromheaven. {10:19} Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. {10:20} Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:16-20

"Listen for the voice
of the one who loves you"

{15:23} For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. {15:24} And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. 1 Samuel 15:23-24

Authority
Who is in authority?
Saul was rejected because he rebelled against God's authority
God instructed Saul to do something a specific way
Then Saul decided to do something just a little different
So God rejected him
And Saul was tormented by an evil spirit

How often do we not yield to authority? Every time you do that you are in rebellion And when you dig in your heals about your way being right You operate in stubbornness and arrogance You have made your own idea an idol
We all have somebody we should yield to Our spouse, our parents, our boss Even our peers at times And most certainly God
God hates witchcraft! To Him it is the most abhorrent thing And the reason may surprise you For when you become subject to the sin of witchcraft You have made yourself subject to the evil one And God doesn't want you to do that
Consider what places you are standing against Those who have authority over you They may not always be right Realize that it's not about being right It's about being rightly related
Stop being stubborn End your rebellion
Do it NOW, So you are no longer subject to the spirit of witchcraft Instead be subject to God And to those whom He has placed in authority over you
