Too often we think about salvation as
Being saved from hell
Yet that is not the point of Christianity at all!
No it is not what we are saved from that matters most
It is what we are saved for that matters
We may see yielding ourselves to God
As a loss of independence and in a sense it is
In every place where God touches our life
We give up the independence of our own way to take on His
But we gain the freedom that comes with the knowledge of God
Everything is permissible for me
but everything is not beneficial
I will not be mastered by anything
But I will yield to the Lord who is my master
Salvation means that I must decrease
And He must increase
Being saved is only the start of being transformed
into the exact likeness of Christ
So what are we saved for?
Is it for giving up your self?
Is it for becoming like Christ?
Is it for escaping hell?
Yes, all of these things
But there is something more
Simpler, more wonderful, subtler
It brings tears to my eyes
A smile to my face
And a warm feeling to my soul
every time I hear God remind me
What are we saved for?
We are saved for love
For God so loved the world…
Often He touches my life and says,
"I just wanted to say I love you"
Those are moments I treasure
Those words are the whole reason of my salvation
How can I love God with anything less than all of my heart
That is the treasure I have stored up in heaven
For where my treasure is
There my heart is also
