When a man and wife are married
she gives him dominion
not domination
he gives her authority
not control
they join together in honor towards each other
it is an exchange brought about by the covenant of marriage
Honor is about holding one another in high esteem
Often we honor those who do great deeds
or hold high positions
champions, heroes, leaders
this is a different kind of honor
it is an honor of works
seldom do we honor someone
just because we should
When Adam fell
he honored Satan and dishonored God
and so we are born the seed of Adam sown in dishonor
But God has not left it that way
{9:21} Hath not the potter power overthe clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Romans 9:21
When we recognize our dishonor towards God
if we repent
something wonderful happens
the power of God enters in
What greater honor can a man have then to have Jesus in their heart
God honors you with Himself
{2:20} But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. {2:21} If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vesselunto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. {2:22} Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. {2:23} But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
2 Timothy 2:20-23
We give Him dominion over our life
He gives us His authority
we honor one another
We are the Bride of Christ
and He loves us and wants to honor us
{8:3} When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; {8:4} What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? {8:5} For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. {8:6} Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: {8:7} All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; {8:8} The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Psalms 8:3-8
Again, there are two kinds of vessels
the honorable
and the dishonorable
{2:13} For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, brokencisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:13
Become an honorable vessel
let Christ mend the broken places
least wise the living water of Christ
can not be held in you
let Christ rule in your heart
be filled with honor
be a vessel that holds
the honor that comes only from God
{1:17} For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2 Peter 1:17
And this honor and glory is God
and we are His vessels of Honor that contain Him
