{5:1} And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: {5:2} And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, {5:3} Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. {5:4} Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. {5:5} Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. {5:6} Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. {5:7} Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. {5:8} Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. {5:9} Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. {5:10} Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. {5:11} Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. {5:12} Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 5:1-12
Filled with what?
A thought comes into our hearts
we either reject it
or we harbor it
if we harbor it, it grows
surfacing again and again
being fed as we entertain it
it grows larger and larger
as it occupies more of our mind
we become obsessed with this thought
we continue to meditate on this thought
it begins to control the words of our mouth
and in this way it feeds on itself
we talk about it,
we think about it
finally one day we act upon it
the hunger grows
we are not satisfied with once
soon we begin to feel an emptiness
pangs of hunger
we act upon it again
then again and again
we have become possessed by this thought
this thought keeps getting larger
we once had it
but now it has us
we have become that very thing we thought
but it never satisfies us
and it is never satisfied
hunger, and more hunger
this thought could be anything
it could be about sex
it could be about drugs
it could be about food
it could be about sports
it could be about the net
it could be about work
it could be about anything
Solomon wrote: A man is as he thinketh
Jesus said,
{5:6} Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
If your thoughts are wrong thoughts
and you entertain them
harboring them until they produce fruit
you will never be filled
But thoughts of righteousness
keeping right with God
He will fill you
But it all starts with a thought
{4:8} Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8
{32:13} Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city: {32:14} Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks; {32:15} Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.{32:16} Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. {32:17} And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Isaiah 32:13-17
