My "Most Wanted" #1
John Van Wert b. c. 1792 d. 1854 m. Phebe Allen b. 1/Aug/1794 d. 3/Jul/1875 bur. Amity Churchyard, Irroquois Co., IL. Family tradition says John is son of Hendrick and Catherine (De Voe). Info from "The Van Wert Genealogy" by Irving Van Woert shows a John Leslie Van Wert b. 26/May/1783 d. 1854 s/o Isaac and Amy (Bishop) who m. Phebe (unknown). #2
Phebe Allen b. 1/Aug/1794 d. 3/Jul/1875 bur. Amity Churchyard, Irroquois Co., IL. m. John Van Wert b. c. 1792 d. 1854. Her headstone states she is wife of John and a native of Westchester Co., NY. I have nothing else on her.
#3
Mary Elizabeth Traves b. 20/Jul/1832 d. 2/Aug/1913 b. Wolbach, Greeley Co., Nebraska m. 22/Apr/1848 Orange Co., NY Horatio Clarke (s/o John and Phebe above) b. 4/Mar/1826 d.14/Oct/1875 bur. Country Churchyard near E. Lynn, Vermillion Co., IL (about 10 miles from Amity where his mother is buried--believe he may be in Amity but no headstone). Family tradition says she is d/o John and Julia (Mosher) Traves. Her obit says she is survived by 2 sisters, Martha Hiaght and Elmira Lice (Tice?), both of Cold Springs, NY. Mary's daughter, Julia, began her genealogy research prior to her mother's death so I tend to believe that much of the family tradition is true due to Mary's firsthand knowledge. I have nothing else on her.
Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated.
