| Recently came across the names of JACOBUS VAN WOERT, born ca 1725; SARAH VAN
WOERT, born ca 1733 and REBECCA VAN WOERT, born ca 1740. If my information
is correct, they were children of JACOB VAN WOERT
And HENDRIKJE OOTHOUT. They lived in the Albany, NY area, Does any one have information on this family? |

The Jacob Van Woert whom I have a question about was born 17 Oct 1723.
My records indicate that he married Elizabeth Fort in about 1749. They had a
son Johannes born in 1750 and a son Jacob born in 1754. He later married
and had additional children with a second wife. There are also some interesting coincidences in this family which lead me to ask a few questions. A number of Clutes were living in Saratoga County around 1800. My descendent Abraham Fort married Anna Barbara Clute in 1716. Was there any relationship between the Clutes in the Van Woert line to the Anna Barbara in my line? The History of Saratoga County has a Fort Ferry up river from Visscher's Ferry. My Hayes line came from Ireland prior to 1820 and lived in this same area. The Hayes's were linen weavers, some of the Forts had a ferry and they all were farmers who produced crops. The Hayes's were members of the Baptist church. The Forts were Dutch Reformed. I do not know very much about the other families. Is essence what type of society existed in Saratoga County along the Mohawk River during the 1820 to 1840 period that would bring these families together? |
