H.S. Campbell, age 76, died suddenly Thursday of last week while
enroute
from Stover to the home of his son, Jack, who resides several miles
south of
Stover. Mr. Campbell had visited several days with his brother-in-law
and
sister, Mr and Mrs John Braden, in Stover. On Thursday, desiring to
go the
home of his son, Jack, he rode part of the way with John Chism, staying
for
dinner at the Chism home. In the afternoon he set out afoot, accompanied
by
Mr Chism, and had almost reached his son's home when he suddenly staggered
and fell backward, dying in a few minutes. The funeral was held Sunday.

RICE BRADEN FUNERAL THURSDAY
Rice John Braden, age 87, and one of Stover's oldest citizens
died at his
home Sunday afternoon, following a short illness,
Mr. Braden was born in Morgan County October 25,1876, a son
of John and
Amanda Braden. He had been a Stover resident the past 34 years.
Mr. Braden is survived by his widow, the fromer Jennie E Cowell;
also by
four sons; Lindle and Earl of Stover; Ora of Mexico,Mo; Elry of South
Dakota; four daughters, Mrs Naomi Bingham, and Mrs Monte Horner, Kansas
City, Kansas; Mrs Rita Wilson of Kalamazoo, Mich; Mrs Ersie Bush of
Stover;
19 grandchildren.42 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o;clock
at the
Stover Methodist Church, with the Rev Prentice Wilbanks and the Rev
Eugene
Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Stover Cemetery.
ANDREW JACK CAMPBELL
Andrew J Campbell, 79, Nelson, died at the St Joseph's Hosptial
in
Booneville at 5:40am Friday. He had been ill for the past three weeks
and
had been a patient at the hospital since Monday.
He was born in Morgan County Oct 25, 1882, son on the late S.H.
Campbell
and Sarah Jane Campbell. His early life was spent in Morgan County.
He was married at Stover, Dec 29,1909, to Miss Cora Jones. They
were the
parents of four children. One daughter, Retha Beryl Campbell, died
in
infancy.
Mrs. Campbell died Aug 10,1943. Mr Campbell was also preceded
in death by
two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by two sons, Maurice V Campbell and Elmo H Campbell,
Nelson; one daughter Mrs Una B Wright, Independence; one sister, Mrs.
Cora
Smith,Stover; two half-brothers Alexander Campbell, state of California;
Sullis Campbell, Bradgate,Iowa; three half-sisters Mrs. Everett Wilson
and
Mrs. Barcie Wilson, Holden; and Mrs Agnes Anders, Nebo, Illinois. Nine
grand
children also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church in Nelson
at 7pm
Sunday. The Rev Delbert Hall will officiate.
Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery.
The body is at the Ewing Funeral Home and will be taken to the
church in
Nelson Sunday morning where it will lie in state until the hour of
the
service.
