E A Duvel
Earnest Albert Duvel, age 70, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, February
11th, at his home in Florence. He was a son of Christian and Katherine Hansen Duvel. In
infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Florence, later joining the Evangelical
And Reform Church of Florence. On March 18, 1919, he was married to Miss Clara
Schupp. To this union were born a daughter and son--Mrs. Deliah Helms of Tipton and
Paul Duvel of Florence.  Other survivors are four grandchildren; also three sisters, Mrs
Nettie Rodenbach of Florence, Mrs Alma Brunkhorst, Syracuse, and one brother,
Henry Duvel of Sweet Springs. Mr. Duvel was a prominent citizen at Florence, serving in
political, civic and community affairs. His most recent official position was as chairman
of the county agricultural committee.  Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon,
February 13th,at the Evangelical Church in Florence, the pastor, Rev Brueggerman
officiating.  Active pallbearers were George Hotsenpillar, Walter Thompson, Heinz
Michalkowski, Joe Kanenbley, Carl Dittmer, Harold Eldenburg.  Honorary pallbears
were John Lemler, Forrest Hampy, Edwin Bremer, Harry Bremer, August Hartman, John
Daniels, Frank Houchen.

W.A. Smith
W.A. Smith, age 78, a resident of Stover several years, passed away at Columbia Medical
Center Saturday, Nov. 24th. He had been ill several weeks. Mr Smith was born in
Morgan County Nov 2,1884. He was the son of the late James Smith and wife. W.A. was
first married to Sarah Jane Smith. She passed away June 17, 1950. He was married to
Catherine Deppler June 6, 1951. She survives as do the following sons and
daughters---Hilton Smith, St Louis;Dencil Smith, Kansas City; Mrs Helen
Colvin,Versailles;Mrs Winnie Rodrick and Mrs Ernestine Smith both of Cleveland,
Ohio; a brother, Ross Smith, Kansas City,Kansas. There are 12 grandchildren and six
great grandchildren. Mr Smith was employed many years as a section foreman for the
Rock Island railroad. Funeral services were held at the Versailles Christian Church, of
which the deceased was a member, on Tuesday Nov 27, Rev Freeman officiating. Burial
was in the Versailles cemetery.

Philip Fair Smith
Philip Fair Smith,87, a farmer of the Stover community, died at his home Thursday after
an illness of five years. He was born March 4, 1874, son of the late Isaac and Ellen
Smith. Mr Smith was married to Cora Jane Campbell, who survives of the home. Also
surviving are three sons; Othello Smith, Cole Camp;Cloyd Smith, Stover; Philip Smith,
Lincoln; two daughters, Mrs Sella Campbell, Leeton; Mrs Hazel Monsees, Stover; one
sister, Mrs Catherine Miller, El Dorado Springs; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren
and one grea great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2pm at the
Stover Baptis Church with the Rev William J Tennel officiating. Burial will be in the
Stover Cemetery. The body is at the Scrivner-Stevinson Funeral Home.
 
 

Charles A. Campbell
(Sedalia)
SEDALIA DEMOCRAT
February 6,1966
 Charles A. Campbell, 89, Buena Vista, died at Bothwell Hosptial at 1:45am Saturday.
He had been a patient at the hospital since Thursday.  Mr Campbell was born in Benton
County, November 29, 1876, son of the late William and Elizabeth Campbell. He lived
most of his life in Sedalia where he followed the blacksmith trade until he retired. He
was married in 1900 to Miss Rosa Stone. They were parents of four children. One son
died in infancy and another son, Willian Aubrey Campbell, died March 13,1948.  Mrs
Campbell died April 10,1926. Mr Campbell was married in Sedalia, Feb 16, 1927, to
Mrs. Jennie Margie Conner, who preceded him in death Aug 19, 1949. Mr Campbell was
one of a family of ten children. He was preceded in death by five bothers; John,
George,Joseph,Harvey and Ed Campbell; and two sisters, Mrs Ada Moore and Mrs Laura
Dillon.  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lola Smith and Mrs Lucille Wasson
of Sedalia; Two sisters, Mrs Mamie Lear, Cross Timbers; Mrs Sarah Shoemaker, Cole
Camp; eleven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at
the Ewing Funeral Home at 2pm Monday.  The Rev Orval F Woolery will officiate.
Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery. The body is at the Ewing Funeral Home.
