Don't rush any jumps you have to do. I found this out very early on, if you have to make a jump, decide which jump you need to use whether a STANDING JUMP - Covers about one block of space, a RUNNING JUMP - covers about two blocks of space or a RUNNING & REACHING jump - covers about three blocks of space. Line Lara up and use the <WALK> button to get Lara to the edge of where she's going to jump and then jump or jump back one block space (press <JUMP> & <BACK> together ONCE for perfect distance) for your run up. Run up's of more than one block space do not help Lara anymore than backing up one block space, it's all the same to the computer/console. Jumping can get very complicated and using the wrong jump in the later levels is normally fatal, you have been warned. |
General Hints & TipsBefore you play the actual game use the 'Training Level' at Lara's house to it's full use, you can get in a lot of good practice of all Lara's excellent moves, so that you are better prepared for the challenges ahead. The best section is in the coverted Ballroom / Gynasisum where you can practice are the different jumps, as these is a major part of the game. If you get stuck in the early levels of the game, your best course of action is to WATCH LARA, as in the early levels of the game she will guide and protect you, all you have to do is watch her hands when she draws her pistols, she will seek out the nearest target - even if you can't see it yet, and when she walks she will look at places you have to go like tunnels and ledges, the otherbig help is if you actually LISTEN to the music/soundtrack as that can give hints when trouble is approaching. For all PC players you MUST when you believe your next step could lead into danger or worst be fatal to Lara - SAVE THE GAME, there is no limit to how many saves you can use (only that you can only have 16 at anyone time (see load/save menu in the game), all it takes is a couple of button presses and all that hard work you just done in the last hour will not be lost to be eaten by the T-Rex, so SAVE, SAVE and SAVE again, to coin a phrase, "It's the only way to be sure.", so do it. Where possible stay as far away and on any higher ground when you attack (or attacked by) any creatures, take the T-Rex, try killing it on open ground with your pistols, no chance, you're going to be lunch (unless you are either 1. cheating, 2. very skilled (and I do mean very) or 3. lucky), so find a place to shoot from that is if possible higher than the T-Rex, ok it's going to take a bit longer, but it means a) you don't get Lara killed and b) you don't waste any Medi-packs, so think distance and higher, got it? Take your time and EXPLORE EVERYWHERE, as you never know what you could miss, weather it be Medi-packs (in constant demand), Shotgun shells, Magnum clips etc, it might not contain anything, but might be a secret room or a better way down off of the ledge, so explore and laern. |
