COOKIE CUTTER ORNAMENTS

 

MATERIALS

cookie cutters in various shapes
fabric scraps
tacky glue
gold braid, rickrack, or lace to trim outside edges of cookie cutter
gold cord for hanger
trimming suggestions: wooden figures, dried flowers, ribbon, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS

Paint cookie cutter or cover it with fabric.   You can leave hole open, and trim the outside edges or you can make an arrangement inside the cookie cutter by gluing in dried materials and miniature figurines. To do this, glue matching fabric to back side. Trim outside edges with braid, rickrack, or lace. Then put your arrangement inside. Tie or glue hanger to top.

SOCK SNOWMAN

MATERIALS

1 white infant sock
polyester fiberfill for stuffing
2 black plastic eyes
tacky glue
small piece of hot pink felt for cheeks
1 red infant sock for cap
needle and thread: white and black
8" ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS

For snowman's head, fill toe of white sock with stuffing, forming a ball of 2" in diameter. Create neckline about 2" from toe with running stitches. Knot and tie off thread. Stitches will be covered later by ribbon necktie. Continue to fill body with stuffing, making a ball 2 1/2" in diameter. Cut off excess sock. Fold ends in and stitch together with small, invisible stitches. Glue eyes in place. To make nose, with running stitch, make a circle 1/4" in diameter. Slightly tighten stitch to pucker nose. Stitch mouth with black thread in running stitch. Tie off thread in cheek area where threads will be covered . Cut two hearts from pink felt. Glue hearts in place for cheeks. To make cap, cut off 2" of red sock cuff. On wrong side gather cut edge with a basting stitch and pull together. Knot and tie off end. Turn cap right side out and place on snowman's head. Turn finished edge of cap up, forming a brim. Tie ribbon around neck.
