Christmas Fingerplays
Five Little Candles
Five little candles (hold up five fingers)
burning so bright. (wiggle fingers)
The first one said, (hold up one finger) "We make great light!" (arms up)
The second one said, (hold up two fingers) "The child is born." (rock baby)
The third one said, (hold up three fingers) "Our light will adorn." (arms out in
front, palms up)
The forth one said, (hold up four fingers) "We shine for Him." (palms forward at
sides of face, fingers spread)
The fifth one said, (hold up five finger) "Let's not be dim." (cover pointer
finger with other hand)
So they stood very tall (stand tall) and glowed very bright, (arms up)
And the Christ child smiled that very night. (smile, hands around face)
Three Great Kings
Three great kings (hold up three fingers) on a
cold winter's night (hug self, shivering)
Found the baby Jesus, (rock arms) guided by the light. (point to sky)
The first king said, (hold up one finger) "We've come so far." (extend hands out
in front)
The second king said, (hold up two fingers) "We followed the star." (point to
sky)
The third king said, (hold up three fingers) "Great gifts we bring." (extend
hands out in front)
And together they said, (hold up three fingers) "Great praises we sing." (hands
around mouth)
Then they knelt (kneel) and they prayed (hands in praying position) and they bowed their
heads (bow head)
As they worshipped baby Jesus in His manger bed. (sit on heels, extend arms forward to
floor, bow head)
The Chimney
Here is the chimney, (make a fist)
Here is the top, (other hand over fist)
Open the lid, (remove hand)
Out Santa will pop! (pop up the thumb)
When Santa Comes
When Santa comes to our house, (hands form
pointed roof)
I would like to peek, (peek through fingers)
But I know he will never come (shake head no)
Until I am fast asleep. (rest head on hands)
Five Little Bells
Five little bells hanging in a row, (hold up
five fingers)
The first one said, "Ring me slow." (move thumb slowly)
The second one said, "Ring me fast." (move index finger quickly)
The third one said, "Ring me last." (move middle finger)
The fourth one said, "I'm like a chime." (move ring finger)
The fifth one said, "Ring us all at Christmas time." (wiggle all five fingers)
Chubby Little Snowman
A chubby little snowman (arms make a fat tummy)
Had a carrot nose. (fist out in front of nose)
Along came a bunny. (hold up two fingers, hop hand)
And what do you suppose? (shake pointer finger)
That hungry little bunny, (rub tummy)
Ate the snowman's carrot nose, (fist out in front of nose)
Nibble, nibble, (open and close fist twice) crunch! (grab nose with fist moving
toward nose)
Three Little Christmas Trees
Three little Christmas trees standing all
alone, (hold up three fingers)
Their heats were very sad (hands over heart, sad face) 'cause they hadn't found a home.
(fingertips form pointed roof)
Then "CHOP" went the ax, (right hand chop left forearm) and down fell a tree,
(palms together lean to side)
And off it went (bounce pointer finger from left to right) with a happy family. (smile
with index fingers at corners of mouth)
Two little Christmas trees standing all alone, (hold up two fingers)
Their heats were very sad (hands over heart, sad face) 'cause they hadn't found a home.
(fingertips form pointed roof)

'Cause they all had found a home. (fingertips form pointed roof)
Down Through The Chimney
Down through the chimney, Santa slipped, (creep
fingers downward)
Brushed off the dirt and snow that dripped, (brush clothes)
Looked 'round the room (shade eyes, look around) and then he crept (tiptoe)
Right past the beds where the children slept. (rest head on hands)
Laid all the presents (pantomime laying presents) under the tree, (hands form pointed tree
above head)
Filled the stockings (fill stockings) full for the children to see, (hand shade eyes)
Then tiptoed (tiptoe) to the chimney and was out of sight. (swoop head from left to right)
'Till he jumped (jump) into is sleigh and flew off through the night (swoop arm upward)
