GOLD MESH BALL

 

MATERIALS

70 mm clear acrylic ball
10" square of gold mesh
1/2 yard of gold scallop braid
1 1/4 yards of 1 1/2" wide gold mesh wire-edge ribbon
2/3 yard of 7/8" wide cream/gold wire-edge ribbon
2/3 yard of 7/8" hunter green/gold wire-edge ribbon
1/3 yard of 1/8" flat gold braid
wire, low temp. glue gun and glue sticks

INSTRUCTIONS

Wrap ball with mesh and wire securely around top of ball. Carefully cut away excess mesh. Cut gold scallop braid in half and glue around ball dividing ball evenly into fourths. For hanger, thread 1/8" braid through loop of ball and knot. Glue knot to top of ball. Cut gold ribbon in half and make two 4-loop bows. Glue bows to top of ball. To make gathered roses, cut ivory/gold ribbon in half. With each length, tie a knot close to one end. From opposite end, pull one wire to gather ribbon. Wrap gathered ribbon around knot to form rose. To make leaves, cut green/gold ribbon into four 6" lengths. With each length, tie a knot close to one end. From opposite end, pull one wire to gather ribbon. Wrap wire around knot to form loop. Shape into a leaf. Glue leaves and roses to center of bows.

PIN WOVEN BALL ORNAMENT

 

MATERIALS

3 1/2" molded foam ball
4 1/2" square of fusible interfacing
4 1/2" square of burgundy brocade fabric
1 1/2 yards of 3/8" burgundy/gold satin ribbon
1 7/8" yards of 1/4" flat gold braid
1/3 yard burgundy Chinese braid
15" of 7/8" gold lame` ribbon
pins, low temp glue gun and sticks

INSTRUCTIONS

With fusible side up, place interfacing on ironing board. Cut six 4 1/2" lengths of burgundy ribbon and six 4 1/2" lengths of gold braid. Alternating colors, place lengths side by side on the square. Cut remaining braid and ribbon into 4 1/2" lengths. Alternating colors in each row, weave braid over braid and under ribbon. Weave ribbon over ribbon and under braid. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse weaving to interfacing or web. Cut one circle from weaving and one from fabric to cover ball (each piece should cover 1/2 of the ball). Glue weaving to one side of the ball and fabric to other side. To cover edges, glue burgundy braid around ball. Make loop with remaining gold braid and glue to top of ball. Make simple 2-loop bow with gold lame` ribbon and glue to top of ball.
