![]() TREES FOR PEACE![]() HA - I bet you thought you were going to see me planting my tree. Well the picture of me was not a good shot - it was a rear view and not too attractive - if you know what I mean. Leviticus 19:23 Ever since it's establishment in 1901, Kern Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL) has been repairing and restoring Israel's vast, neglected landscapes. To this end, KKL has planted over 200 million trees, transforming barren, rocky hills into lush, green forests. This project is unique amongst afforestation efforts worldwide; trees in Israel have been lovingly planted by people from all corners of the globe to honor loved ones or to commemorate soemone dear. Thus, Israel's forests are living legacies populated by millions of trees dedicated to millions of Isreal's many friends throughout the world. KKL's forests serve as the country's green lungs, and provide much needed recreation areas for all it's residents. By planting trees in the Land of the Bible you give something of yourself, and while your trees grow they continually improve the quality of Isreal's environment. Give dew for a blessing And cause beneficent rains To fall in their season, To satiate the mountains of Israel And her valleys, And to water thereon Every plant and tree. And these saplings Which we plant before thee this day. Make deep their roots And wide their crown, That they may blossom forth in grace Amongst all the trees in Israel, For good and for beauty. And strengthen the hands Of all our brethren, Who toil to revive the sacred soil And make fruitful its wastes. Bless, O Lord, their might, And may the work of their hands Find favor before Thee. Look down from Thy holy habitation, From heaven, And bless this land That it may flow again With milk and honey. AMEN Bashana Haba'a |
