ANNE
WADDELL
I am very much a people person, I love being around them and people attract to me the same way, my life is never boring, and every day brings something new..
I have enjoyed history all of my life, from listening to my great aunts tell their stories, of ghosts and the way they used to do things, to hearing about the river boats on the Kennebecais to the history of where we came from, all of the letters and old account books which shows that they had better business skills than the people that have been to school for accounting. Diary's kept with everyday happenings to what the weather was like, if it was a good drying day! Old letters from the early 1800's, that when rewritten and put into book for, tell so much of how they made their living and how hard they worked..
I am a Human Service Counsellor by trade and have found my perfect job, I run a Special Care Home, and know that not only do I help them, but they help me, and I would be lost without them..
MY MISSON STATEMENT IS:
MY REASON FOR BEING A SUPPORT PERSON AND FRIEND TO THE PEOPLE
IN MY HOME IS THAT I FEEL THAT EVERY PERSON NO MATTER WHAT THE DISABILITY
IS HAS THE ABILITY TO LIVE THEIR LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND I FIND THE GREATEST
PELASURE IN BEING THE ONE TO HELP THEM BECOMES AS INDEPENDENT AND SELF
SUFFICIENT AS POSSIBLE
I run the KV Chapter of the Special Olympics, we have approximately
45 athletes in our small area, and it is very seldom anyone does not get
to a practice..we have bowling on Monday nights at the new bowling lanes
called "The Riverboat" it is with the large balls, Tuesday nights we have
floor hockey where we run two different teams an "A" division, which has
competed for years and never been beat (knock on wood)and a "C" division,
it just floors me to see how great a players and people the teams are,
Special Olympics really shows what the term "great sportsmanship means"
Friday nights is bowling again, at the KV Lanes, it is with the small
balls..Last year Craig Chase won the Gold for us.
I have seen the athletes come to us, very shy, some with behavior problems, and some with lack of social skills, or academic skills which in some ways is one of the worst to have, because you may look like everyone else but still have the harder time in school which makes them angry and even lack friends in some cases.
I can take a group of our athletes out with a complete trust in them
that there will be no acting out or troubles..this is great..we have dances,
picnics and just social times..
I have a small hobby farm, where we have horses that my clients are
learing to ride and look after; we have goats that they are learning to
milk..3 cats, 2 dogs of our own and one pup that we puppy sit..
I have two children of my own, Denise is 24, works at Air Canada and Daniel will be 20 just finishing school and heavily into computers which is what he will take next year..I have been divorced for about 10 years now, and don't regret it..my life is very full and I am very content..
Progress Report:
I have been to Scotland and have visited our ancesters home town, very
small but with lots of character, wrote and received a letter from a Robbie
McLeish the local Historian, and he is looking into more on our ancesters
at his end. The Latter Day Saints has most of the data collected on the
Waddell's, and I have found a second family in the same villiage with some
of the children with the same names as our ancesters.
Met with cousins there, their line begins with George Waddle our ancesters brother, so we do have that line finished. We also heard from Connie Bailey who's ancester is William Waddell one of the other brothers. Scotland is a beautiful place, and the people very friendly.
Now that we have the book finished which I have to say is one of the
nicest put out, we are still looking for more to add, for the second half,
along with any corrections from the first..pictures are also welcome.
