We met at a sanatorium for people with back problems in early February 1998 and instantly fell in love. Helga was divorced since April 1997 and had 5 children and I have 1 daughter from a former marriage. Helga has lived in the south part of the country all her live, but I lived in Akureyri the main capital of the north coast. After a few months we decided to start living together, so I moved to the south. We have a little house in Selfoss, a little town (population about 4000) and as disables we are at home most of the time and we enjoy each others company and feel like we have known each other our hole live. Last spring we went to Algarve, Portugal for two weeks and had a wonderful time the two of us. We drove along the shore on a motor cycle, visiting many beaches and a lot of beautiful places. Then we rented a car and drove to Spain and down to Gibraltar, which is in our minds one of the most beautiful countries in the world. We had a wonderful time there, spent the night at a marvelous mountain hotel called SANCHOS and took a day at the ROCK examining all the beautiful caves. We even took a journey in the cable car to the restaurant at the top of the ROCK, a journey we will never forget. You may guess why! After we arrived back to Portugal we decided to take another tour and drove up to LISBON and visited SINTRA, their national park, then we went on, up trough Portugal, into Spain and drove almost to the French borders. It was a 4000 km. trip in one week. When we arrived back to Iceland we didn't even unpack but drove to HVERAVELLIR in the ICELANDIC HIGHLANDS in our motor home. We like to travel around the country and went to a festival in NESKAUPSTADUR, a town across the country with the hole family for a long weekend. It was wonderful and the kids enjoyed it very much and so did we. To day we have started a little firm at our home, called North And South Web Design and are doing all kinds of publishing work e.u. designing logos and headings, and making web sites for individuals and company's and hopefully we can grow it in to a full time job. We spend a lot of time on the web and Helga is a member of all kinds of web-rings and we have met many good people on the web which we are in contact through AOL Instant Message(Braskarinn) and/or e-mail (steinig@nett.is) most days. It is good to know of our friends out there, even though we have never met them in real person. We even had greeting cards in e-mail when we pronounced our engagement on the 24. of December.
