![]() ![]() Name: Phoebe Sims Nicknames: Phoebus, Squeaky, Phoebers, Cry Baby, Breakfast Buddy, Garbo, Stealth Kitty, Scaredy Cat Hobbies: sleeping, playing (especially 'phoebe ball'), eating, "singing", looking out the windows, hiding(I used to enjoy doing Yoga with Tony and Crystal and pouncing on Azrael) Favorite Toys: ball track, Twinkles, Da Bird, feathers, seņor sock, any kind of ball! My favorite time of day is when Crystal wakes up in the morning and we have our special time together. Bedtime is also fun -- that's when I love to squeek and play. I like it when: Tony or Crystal scratches my ears or pets my head. I also like it when they play phoebe ball with me! ![]() The pictures on these pages are likely the most you'll ever see of me. Normally, I am in stealth mode. Of Course, I run and play, sing, smile and do all sorts of cute things for Tony and Crystal, but should a camera or stranger appear, then I go under cover. I have a good reason for this caution: You see, I had a very hard time before Tony and Crystal found me at the Champaign County Humane Society and brought me home January 29, 1996. I had been rescued by the shelter in October. I was starving and the top of my ear had frozen off! Although the people at the Humane Society were very nice to me (while I was there I went from an emaciated 5 lbs. to nearly 10 pounds), I had been so traumatized by my ordeal that I cowered in my cage all the time. Crystal says they were lucky that a nice volunteer named Jennifer went back twice to look for me when they asked for the kitty who'd been there the longest. I had done such a good job of hiding in my cage that I was hard to find - even when someone was looking for me! It took a while for Tony and Crystal to win me over completely - but now we're best friends and I'm a very happy kitty. Tony and Crystal play with me and are very understanding when I still run away from nearly everybody else, although I do occasionally let sitters pet me. I have a new page and new award in honor of others who like me were once on the streets or in shelters but now have good homes. It's called Phoebe's Friends. Please go check it out!
