AARON QUARLES WILL
 

                 St. John's Parish in King William County Virginia

Probated in Prerogative Court Canterbury, London England, December 23, 1771.
 
 

In the Name of God Amen;

I Aaron Quarles of the parish of Saint John in the Couty of King William being sick and weak but in perfect memory do make this my last Will and Textament in manner and form follwing IMPRIMIS
1st my will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
ITEM  I give to my sons James Quarles and his heirs forever five pounds current money.
ITEM  I give to my wife one feather bed and furniture one bay mare called Fane two Cows and Calves two ewes and lambs one sow and two pigs half a dozen plates  I also lend my wife two Negroes during her natural life and after her decease to be sold for the use of my estate. I also lend my wife the use of my Land whereon I now live during her natural life and after her decease to be sold for the use of my estate. The negroes I lend my wife are named Stepney and Viotel.
ITEM  I give to my son Turnstall Quarles my negroe boy named Herculas to him and his heirs forever
ITEM  I give to my daughter Carherine Quarles and her Heirs forever one negro boy named Lewis
ITEM  I give to my grandson named Aaron Quarles Stark and his heirs forever one negro boy named Mark
ITEM  I give all the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between all the rest of my children vist.-
Anne Isbell, Aaron Quarles, John Quarles, Nathaniel Quarles, Jane Stanhope, Barbary Starke, Turnstall Quarles and Catherine Quarles to them and their heirs forever.
Lastly  I appoint Joseph Ffox, Bartholomew Dandridge, and John Quarles Jr. Depy. Clerk to be executors of this my last Will, revolking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Nineteenth Day of December, One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty Seven.

This will was approved at London before the Right Worshipful George Hay Doctor of Laws and Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted on the Twenty-third day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and seventy one, by the oath of John Quarles the younger one of the executors named in the will to whom administration was granted of all and singular goods and chattels and credits of the deceased having  been first sworn by commission duly to administer power reserved of making the like grant to Joseph Ffox and Bartholonew Dandridge the other executors named in the said will when they or either of them shall apply for the same.
